I've sent Bitcoin to Africa, to a Nigerian prince, in fact. He used it to pay for a new well and water pump in his village and a motorbike. It felt really good.

There are surely aspects that have yet to be litigated, but I would expect that it applies to any currency from which you can potentially derive income (cf. a currency that functions only as non-transferable store credit purchased and redeemed for a dollar amount)

Speak for yourself. I happen to be 99% certain that not only will Bitcoin hit $100,000 within the next five years, it will get close within one year. Within five years we won't really be measuring its value in dollars anymore.

most women are not into investing, they usually rather play with makeup and usually depend on a man for money,

this is slowly changing as more women have started acting like men, joining the workforce and being more aggresive

most women are not very bright, this is decades of culture, not easy to change, will take years

also, most people get into bitcoin because they "need" to and not because someone pushes them into it

why would someone get into bitcoin when they have paypal and facebook, and little money in their bank.

it's completely plausible imo that craig "satoshi" wright would commit his funnybux into a trust named after a notorious speculative mania back in 2011 before they ever had their first run-up

e: ok looks like I have to walk that back, it's not easy to find btc price charts from then (because the exchanges folded lol) but there literally was a runup at exactly that time

fun fact: the world's first mutual fund kept its securities in a chest with three locks and the keys were given to three custodians. no word on whether one of the custodians dropped off his key at a ye messenger shoppe & died

oh here's that FT article I referenced, archive copy. I wrote this DeFi article (b) because Colin's blog post was funny but (a) because of the FT article, because these fuckers are marketing this bullshit to retail, and not just to the thorougly deserving degenerate day traders.

I saw the following "how DeFi works" diagram in the FT and my first thought was "FAUXTON would see this and absolutely poo poo, and try to get everyone involved sent to jail ASAP"

that sure does make me want to DeFicate

That always seemed like a frame job to me. Ross was a good kid from Westlake with utopian ideals who got in over his head, so they had to smear his character for this takedown so the public could stomach it. The FBI also stole 1600 Bitcoins in the process, so it's not like the agents involved didn't have an incentive.

They wanted to make an example out of him, and to add insult to injury, they took him out on a bullshit charge so he couldn't become a martyr for his well-meaning ideals of ending prohibition.

when i attended jury duty in a drugs & guns case an old dude made a short speech during voir dire to the effect that drugs were a poison of the soul and he had nothing but contempt for those who deal them. i didn't make a speech, but I did tell the DA that I didn't believe drug crimes were necessarily victimless. he and I were not in the silent majority of libertarian jurors i guess

So last election I supported Bernie; now I hate him. This is the story of my journey. I never really studied politics that much. I had no concept what money was or how it was created. I liked the idea of shafting the rich and helping the poor. Bernie's sound bites appealed to me. Wealth inequality is the great evil right? Bernie wants to help the poor. What monster wouldnt support Bernie?

I'm a crypto developer and wanted to learn more about finance. Things started to change for me when I started studying finance. I download dozens of audiobooks about econ, banking, investing. I started listening podcasts like, macro voices, Peter Schiff, Peak Prosperity. I watched youtube channels like, Real Vision, Mises institute. I read Rothbard, Kaynes. I started learning what money really is by studying Jeff Snider and Richard Warner. I learned about the credit theory of money and shadow banking.

After hours and hours of study Libertarianism seems painfully obviously correct. Yet when I was first learning people like Peter Shiff called me stupid because socialism seemed like a good idea at the time. I wasn't stupid, but I was ignorant; and I understand Peter's anger at socialists who are destroying our country with good intentions. I never set out to learn about libertarianism. I just learned about econ and finance and everything else became obvious... unfortunately those are rather esoteric subjects in this day and age (and from what I hear university econ is rather corrupted)
