Sitting alts on gates does not protect you from people who log in inside your system. i think here is where we can agree to disagree- local is a net negative on the game because it brings the barrier to entry of playing the game down to something a literal 9 year old can master while doing his math homework. god forbid people have to work together, maintain and defend structures that give them back most of local's benefits, and operate in an environment that doesn't give them perfect intel. i don't want a game where the only people that die are brand new players, AFKs, and bots whose script stopped running. highsec is already a gank-free zone, it's time to make nullsec actually interesting.

The game will always need to balance the tools both the agressor and the defender have. I do agree instant local gives defenders a huge protection/information against incoming ganks, but removing this tool completely moves the scales far too much to the advantage of the agressor. Directional scan is what most wormholers learn to use as a defensive tool. As this scanner is not implemented at all in EE, to me completely removing local is not an option. You do not want to create a situation where the risk vs reward of simply undocking to go mine/rat/mission is too negative. (at least missions seem unreachable for now for gankers, but are there any in nullsec?) If they ever decide to make PART of nullsec with blackout I would like that. Then people can choose by which ruleset to play. Wormholes are a good example, many communities loved it. Others hated it. If they ever implement wormholes in EE, I do hope they make the scanning user friendly somewhat.

Good Dumplings posted:neat, I've never seen someone willfully admit to having no idea how non-gank combat works I love the idea that fitting a neut is what's going to stop you getting ganked as well, especially when all the multiboxer is going to do is login a few more alts to make it stick if it's even in question.

If enabling your particular playstyle was the sole focus of this game, you would have come close to something resembling an argument. But it isn't and you just don't understand that. I suspect you're actually incapable of doing so. Full contact PvP rarely produces a commercially-viable game.

But it isn't and you just don't understand that. I suspect you're actually incapable of doing so. best part - PC EVE's PvP operates on the exact same rules as ganking, except if you run out of time the opponent doesn't have CONCORD-strength armor and damage. and yet Uedama has hosed him up so bad that that all that went over his head and he thinks "just neut/ecm the attacker" might work ganking's a hell of a drug e: holy loving poo poo missed the "just warp off" phahaha

I do like that he's admitting that his extensive killboard can be annihilated merely by having to briefly share a real-time chatroom with his targets. You'd think someone with actual PvP skills would rise to the challenge and step up their game instead of crying endlessly into the void here.Truga posted:lol The poster above you got what I meant, but I'll be more specific for you and 1001, who I'm sure will deliberately misunderstand it. how do you "rise to the challenge" of a literal invulnerability shield? the only way to gank someone in eve is if they're not paying attention. granted, it happens a lot because the game is boredom incarnate, but catching an attentive player simply can't happen. now don't get me wrong, eve is a good game precisely because you can't get caught if you know wtf you're doing and don't commit to a fight, but it also means the other guy literally can't "rise to the challenge". yeah that is true. the kind of person who doesn't want to get murdered will simply not even start playing a game like eve 99.9% of the time. which is fine. also in a similar but opposite vein, over the last year or so, fuckin lineage 2 has been seeing a slight incline in players/revenue, which is just insane for a 17 year old game. not so insane when you realize it's one also of the very few onlines game that still features open world pvp that isn't broken in some stupid way though. yeah, it's pretty bad, and the game aged terribly, but if you want clans ganking each other in the field or doing giant castle sieges, the competition is incredibly thin.

the key is to leave the competitive portion of eve free of ridiculous safety nets, if you want risk free income go to high sec lmao
