There is a blackened plain, on the shore of the Glass Lake, where hope goes to die. Where even the greatest titans of Field are worn down, their bodies battered, and their souls defeated without having ever even seen the Peerless Vessel, let alone held it in their grasp. Those of that place are likewise a tired, battered people. Few know more than them the futility of hope. But should you meet one, they may speak of him. A man from the south who spent nine years in that accursed place as their greatest warrior, who was perhaps one of the greatest warriors to ever stand astride the battlefield—who, if you can believe it, they say may have even been the equal of Spear Ruler Grain. But they will also tell you it was not enough. The legacy of the great despoiler was too much for him to overcome, and eventually he too was broken. At the end of it all he left that accursed place, and all of Field, for good. They say that he is not the man he once was. Much of his body has been replaced by steel, and even his name has been warped by his years of fighting. But his strength, his grace, and his mind remains—and that should he return, with time and training, he could still be one of the greatest Wide Snipers on Field today. Few are brave enough to say his name. Most believe themselves to be unworthy. But on the darkest days, in the coldest nights, you may still find a grizzled face who will dare to whisper the name of the man who was to be their savior: Megatron.
