It’s so out of nowhere too. He was just this constant presence in the chat, not a huge character but a reliable presence. Someone who’s listen. Then you check the discord after being offline for a few hours and bam. Gone.

Hey guys, Sean's wife here. I appreciate all the memories you guys are sharing. Sean was a great guy who really cared about others and this community really meant a lot to him. We've both been goons for over a decade. I'm so inspired that goons are already dedicating creative projects to Sean's memory, and I am so thankful for the support of this community.

Sean was one of those few people that would randomly engage me when I'd join discord on the beginning of a day off just to drop in and say hi. I would only intend to briefly gauge how many folks were online (which - alas - at ungodly hours for cross-Atlantic goons, usually was only a few), and suddenly I found myself in an hour-long conversation about growing chilis / making chili sauce / BL books and content / beef jerky / German cultural shenanigans / etc. And it was never the kind of random chatroom conversation where it seemed like there's just some other guy with nothing to do on the other side of the internet that you're now stuck with having to respond to, it was the first-timer-Minecraft-tier of conversation, where you think "oh, I'll just spend a couple of minutes to have a look and then go about my daily business around the apartment", and suddenly it's 5am and there's a 30ft gold-block penis statue in front of your house. I'm so sorry for your loss, Wroughtirony

Sucks to hear, I associate him with just sorta normal, sane posting which as we all know can sometimes be at at a premium in GiP. If I saw his av in the middle of a massive derail in the current events thread I at least knew it wasn't going to be a brain melting troll logic but something informative or at least pointing out the funny side of something. Condolences to the rest of your family, as they sometimes say in NZ, Kia Kaha, stay strong.

I was wrong. Sean was a cool dude and I enjoyed his conversation on discord and on these boards. I am sorry he is dead and will miss him.

Great news! Arlington has relaxed some of their COVID restrictions and the limit on gatherings has been raised from 10 to 50. This means that anyone who wants to attend Sean's inurnment will be able to do so. If you plan on going, just give me a heads up so I can keep you caught up on details as the date approaches.
