one time at a festival when I was watching health about halfway through their set someone asked me if I had ketamine. I used to look a lot like I had drugs so that's not weird but like you wouldn't even come up before healths set was over and then the last band was tv on the radio which I don't think is a great band for a k hole

my friends and I did raspberry beret at a private room karaoke place in LA koreatown a couple years ago and there was a typo in the lyrics so it said "seems that I was busp doing something close to nothing" and we decided it would be our inside joke so we constantly texted our other friend who hadn't been there memes with the word BUSP on them

I mostly listened to podcasts today BUT I did listen to this song, this morning, when it woke me up for work.

st. vincent rules. my friend used to run in the same circles as her in texas and tried hitting on her a few times except he had another acquaintance with the same first name and a pretty similar last name, so he kept accidentally saying "hey, Annie <Not Clark>!" so long story short st. vincent thinks my friend is a real prick

the xx is (was?) a really good recorded band and also an amazing live band which is pretty rare. their super intimate/tender sound translates well even to pretty large venues like the Aragon ballroom which holds 5,000 and is basically a giant echo chamber. the only other band I've seen there that sounded good was portishead

How Young Chop be from Chicago and but talk like he from Atlanta tho? I'm saying.

(It's actually sad because he was like the Straight & Narrow Gen Z goody goody to Chief Keef and Glo Gang's violent youth ways and yet somehow Chief Keef moved to LA and became a grown adult while Chop became a caricature he would have laughed at 10 years ago? Appatrently he been through a lot though and mental health is no joke. Losing a lot of people. Came do that.)

i think because of the great migration, Jim Crow, redlining, etc lots of Black folks in northern cities have accents closer to those of southern Black folks than of the northern cities they live in

Their sound is so clean. It's like they took everything that worked in the genre during the 80's and made it better.

plus they give you a really good physics engine

jazz does indeed own. if you've dug into jazz basically at all you probably don't need this recco but just in case there's someone here who hasn't listened to it before

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9B7ZWDaKECI

miles along with John coltrane, cannonball adderly, bill evans, etc. it's maybe the most important piece of recorded music of all time and I mean that

the recording sessions for this record basically consisted of miles giving each of the musicians a few scales and a broad sketch of what they were trying to do, then just fuckin going for it.

it really stands out in comparison to bebop, which is what miles was doing previously, and which had become the dominant form of jazz in the 50s. bebop also completely loving slaps, but this album literally flipped jazz on its head and reinvented it without changing anything.

if you can make it to the intro of All Blues without getting chills at least once I'm jealous of you because you still get to discover this record

I did some googling and apparently soad does use the harmonic major scale a lot and also according to someone on Reddit half an age ago Serj loves singing "a raised 7th into the tonic" which would make more sense to me if I had taken more than one semester of theory 18 years ago
