I was blown away by the Vive when I tested it pre-release and gave it a ton of play time that first year or so. Since then it’s mostly been unused until Alyx which did own, especially with the special controllers. After I beat it however the headset went back to being mostly unused again :[ Always fun to bring out and put friends/family into it though. I should try to get back into some of the unplayed or wish listed games I have in steam, but I’m too easily swayed by conventional PC games when I’m bored from mainlining Apex Legends.

I remember watching The Matrix Reloaded with a bunch of my classmates while skipping class and I told everyone that I read on THE INTERNET there was something after the credits. About minute 10 of credits later I got worried and they got antsy but thankfully I escaped ridicule for wasting everyone’s time when the teaser for #3 started. Later that same year I burned a lovely cam copy of the movie to a CD and played it with my dreamcast for a section of some presentation I had to give in my language arts class. It’s possible I recorded it to VHS first but I just remember the dreamcast being a key point in transferring/playing the media, and I wasnt above setting my dreamcast up at school for such a payoff.

I have too many to count but one of the many I’m still embarrassed about is in Vegas getting wasted on many free vodka redbulls at a paigow table then going to an Evil Dead stage show where I sat in front and was so incredibly obnoxious they selected me as the person to get Carrie’d in front of the crowd. Walking back to the hotel after I continually yelled out OLE, OLE OLE OLE and had my own let’s go Sami/Cena sucks chant. Once back at the hotel a couple spotted the good time I was having and offered (or more specifically, I took) the last shot of their tequila before going into their room and no joke asking the guy to let me give him a diamond cutter. He agreed as long as he could give me a rock bottom which I happily obliged. When he did it the ~70 dollars of chips I had in my hoody pocket exploded out and I never saw them again. His girlfriend carried me back to my room who I asked to give me a suplex which she probably took the wrong way and let me just fall into bed to pass out. I Before E posted:I used to think I didn't like actual play podcasts as a whole but I'm listening to the Partizan series of Friends At The Table and I'm realizing I mostly don't like D&D as a system and also find most of the podcasts I've tried to feel more like a series of riddles the DM poses and the cast get increasingly frustrated trying to solve and less like the sort of fun emergent improvisational experience tabletop games sell themselves as. Any recommendations that are more like that? Bonus points if there's anywhere near as much spelling out unfamiliar words and names as Friends At The Table. A show I’ve fallen completely off of during the pandemic (not having time during a commute for their 2+ hr episodes more than anything) is a show called The Film ReRoll. It’s a bunch of theater friends playing out movies (Jumanji, Jurrasic Park, Home Alone) as the characters therein that often times immediately diverge from the actual film story. Some of the group I think played some variation of D&D together (the show uses GURPS), but frequently there are people on the show with next to no knowledge of the rules and are just there to improv with the guidance of their friends before/during recording. The DM(s) mostly keeps them on the path towards some sort of victory; as the dice allows of course, with some hidden stuff they leave along the way. Each movie is about 3-5 episodes long and all titled as such in their feed.

went into elden ring blind and found myself teleported to the other side of the map via a trap treasure chest right out of the tutorial cave. Ran around getting close to one shot by monsters far above my level then decided to try and fight some anyways for 2 hours before walking back to the starting area key points of my stupidity: -hitting heal when i had no heals -hitting heal when i meant to hit attack (leading to healing directly in front of an enemy) -not remembering there is fast travel and the best one: -since i never met melina before this, i was unable to spend any of the thousands of runes i gained and lost on stats before getting back most aggravating 3ish hours of gaming ive played in a while and im ready to go again

i used to listen to the opening of event horizon as i went to bed because it was all spacey stuff until the explosions- both ship and eye related- begin i moved a giant kidney stone down to my bladder today and i imagine the hell i experienced was what was in store for the crew on the other side of the warp. 0/10 would not recommend. I didnt get into any of the previous souls likes game but elden ring got me hooked bad to the tune of 50 some hours over the last two weeks. Lots of check points and being able to explore most anywhere instead of being stuck fighting some annoying mob in a hallway for 6 hours is huge. Granted that sort of mob still largely exists I just can go do something else and/or get stronger in the mean time. I, “tested” it for free initially but liked it enough to buy the full game (and thankfully I was able to transfer my save)

I guess I have no memory of what NES/SNES games cost but buying PS1 games was usually a 49.99 affair for me growing up. I dont remember when they jumped beyond that, but I must not have bought new games in a long enough time to be surprised when I noticed
