Tanking is not a viable option, but strategic sucking can work wonders. The way I see it, constant tanking rarely works in any serious, meaningful way. Sucking for one season hard enough to draft a new QB has shown to work. Going 8-8 three out of four seasons might be just as awful a sin as repeated tanking. In both cases the foundation your team is based on is hosed with due to subpar draft options (especially depending on who's making the decisions) as well the stink of mediocrity that will follow you for a decade or more. Don't be Cleveland, don't be Dallas.
