You create a budget spelling out your income, saving, and spending limits for your categories. You can copy from February or January's reconciliation you have if you want. You must have it in place before the 29th of February.

You do not spend more than that in each respective category in the month of March. If things get tough, too bad, you get to try again in April's budget.

You toxx on it, meaning if you don't have the budget in time or break your categories, you get banned.

You spent more than your budget in the furniture category, which was 50 and in which you spent 73. You tried to hide this via a ‘windfall’ and shuffling the limits on categories. You have failed your budget, and thus your toxx.

You should buy a really nice car Z.

For real though I will buy a nice car, probably in 2021. A good somewhat used car with a strong outlook for longevity.

I'm really not looking forward to it at all :(

Would very much prefer to not have a loan so I'll probably get something I can just purchase outright.

To be fair I’ve been telling you to buy a safer car for your kids for a long time. If you didn’t have kids I’d troll you into keeping the Saturn longer. And like, you can do that kind of research yourself easily. I promise it’s easier than budgeting.

Now that that’s out of the way, buy a Range Rover.

Did you know there’s a car thread in BFC? It’s in your fave forum!

E: you should actually buy a Z car because how cool would that be.

Guys I have a real question. I admit I do have this tingling of a gambling-type sensation, FOMO thing, going on right now, because, well, I'm in a position I've never been in my life. I have cash available to invest, and the market has seen a bit of a down turn.

Warren Buffett once said "Widespread fear is your friend as an investor because it serves up bargain purchases"

I have 33k sitting in an Ally savings account

I have 3k in my Vanguard brokerage account in mutual fund VTSAX

Should I move 5-10k from Ally to Vanguard? 20k of the Ally account is my emergency fund.

actual text chat with my dad earlier today

z-dad: son, I am thinking of buying XRP
z-dad: What do you think?
z-dad: crashes make opportunities
zaurg: I decided a while back short-term investments are too volatile for me and I’m done with any get rich quick schemes.
zaurg: Right now VTSAX is for me, long-term savings. That and saving money in high interest savings account (Ally). https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/VTSAX/
zaurg: I like Vanguard and the funds that have low expense ratios
z-dad: so smart
zaurg: ...and it’s on sale right now! I definitely agree with the crashes make opportunities statement. Sure, my account balance just dropped, but it’s the best time to buy.
zaurg: Dad my only advice regarding XRP is if you do go that route, have a defined plan about how much you’ll invest and at what price point you’ll sell, and stick to that plan.
z-dad: Yes, especially after kicking myself in the butt last time. very important

Sometimes, we fall prey to fear. But our faith in Bernie socialism will always be rewarded. Always. The State tells us the situation is not dangerous. Have faith. The State tells us they do not want a panic. Listen well.

True, when the people see police, they will be scared. But it is my experience that when the people ask questions that are not in their own best interest, they should simply be told to keep their minds on their labour-- and to leave matters of the State to the State.

We seal off the city. No one leaves. And cut the phone lines. Contain the spread of misinformation. That is how you keep the people from undermining the fruits of their own labor.
