Is there an 80s equivalent of the The Long Goodbye - The Big Lebowski - Under The Silver Lake tradition of present-day Raymond Chandler riffs?
L.A. Confidential would count, but thats late 90s.

Had to google it but what about :
* Tequila Sunrise
* Alien Nation
* Angel Heart
* Blade Runner

And, of course,
* Who Framed Roger Rabbit

What would have happened if Frank Dux didn't win the kumite?
Bloodsport II: Blood Oath releases the following summer and becomes a smash hit, as it enlists a number of relatively unknown martial artists (such as Royce Gracie) to improve the fighting scenes. It basically does to MMA what Rocky did for Boxing.

In-film? The investigators/HK Police bust in moments before Bolo gives Dux a career-ending backbreaker, tipped off to human trafficking of girls by the reporter. Bolo swears that he will finish the job once he escapes prison. Dux is given a dishonorable discharge and is basically told he's wrecked to the point of being useless to the military. Defeated and disgraced, he returns to his sensei and offers up his black belt. Sensei then gives him a speech about the serenity of loss that draws on his own turmoil in losing a son. He leaves Dux to meditate and says "now the true training can begin".

My Senior Class in HS had to attend tapings of the Hollywood Squares for fundraising purposes.

It was ok.

Are you patted down for recording devices or such?
I went to two of Conan's TBS show tapings and each time it was basically "leave your phone in the car or you don't get in" with a cursory metal detector check before getting carted over to the studio.

In Birdman, the nighttime rooftop scenes have a completely different look to them. What's the reason for that? Is it the lighting, the type of camera?
Is it because we're not following Keaton and it's apart from his POv?

There are so many low, low, low rent ones on YouTube and sadly none of them are worth it. I have no idea why nobody of this generation has cracked it and made it their own.
Rights issues might be one.

But I think the bigger thing is that a lot of these personalities really *love* an aspect of horror films and it just kind of bleeds into what they do. Elvira played up the dumb cheese and overall enjoyableness of a monster flick. Joe Bob was just some guy talking poo poo about films between 6 packs, but could appreciate the craft. Svengoolie, for all his public-access charm, loves hitting cons and talking to people involved with horror flicks but can also hit you with tidbits and behind the scenes poo poo about actors, makeup, series, etc.

It's not like a game streamer where you can toss Among Us in one week and then do Sexy Golf Gaiden and make dumbass noises and voices all day.

In the movie the terminator, during the car chase the terminator crashes into the wall chasing Kyle Reese and Sarah Conner. Why does the terminator decide to run away when the police show up when they cant not stop him from killing Sarah Conner?

It's free on youtube if you want to help solve this with me.

Timestamp would help.

But it's probably because the murderbot AI decided a citywide manhunt would hinder his ability to find Sarah.

Not a film but Metal Gear Solid 2 had its whole ending redone as a result.

The original Cartoon Network run of Mobile Suit Gundam was canned due to 9/11 but it was really just an excuse thanks to bad ratings.

Evangelion, one of Japan's most popular media franchises, released a blu-ray cut of the series with both new and old Dubs.

They omitted the iconic ending song "Fly Me To the Moon" because of licensing rights.

Literally a multi-billion dollar franchise and they hosed up the disc release lol.
