Could someone give a spoiler-free yes/no answer to the question of whether it's ever explained why Nikaido is so strong. Shin, Noi and Caiman are all somewhere between huge and HUGE so it's not surprising when they smash people's heads through walls, but Nikaido did it to Caiman even though she's average sized.

I'm all caught up! I'm happy this show had its big dramatic moment with the two besties being forced to fight because of brainwashing and didn't linger on it for a second longer than it had to. It's amazing that this show about callous sociopaths with no regard for the inherent value of human life comes off more as a lighthearted character-driven comedy than anything. Now to hope for a second season.

yeah you'd expect "main heroine was forcibly married and brainwashed to the antagonist" to be something that'd be milked for all the drama you could get out of it but dorohedoro just doesn't have time for that

dorohedoro is one of the few shows/comics about characters who live in crushing poverty and misery that actually gets the vibe right. not being constantly, performatively depressed and grim about how much poo poo sucks is a big part of that. for instance: Caiman not realizing he can just quit his job and it'll be fine even though it's necessary to save his best friend's life

What the gently caress did I just watch? I'm not quite sure but I loved it. The dub was adequate and fell flat for me in places. Going to rewatch it with subs and see how that feels.

Rewatching it with subs and I'm enjoying it even more. I believe I figured out why I disliked the dub, it's not that the performances were bad, it's that I had the subs turned on and the dialogue was very different in many places. In most cases, I liked what I read more than what I heard. I'm excited to dive into the manga, I checked out the art and it's really great.

Went in completely blind. This was so loving good. I love all the characters. I love the intro so so much. I ate a lot of pan fried gyoza the day after I watched the first half.
