Thx friend

Here's how Papa Joe continues to cause the financial misery of thousands of ppl per year

The 2005 Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) was meant, on paper, to prevent people from abusing Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It accomplished that through means testing, making it harder for people to declare Chapter 7 bankruptcy versus Chapter 13. If a person's income exceeds a certain threshold, they're ineligible for declaring Chapter 7. The bill also required people to complete a credit counseling course no more than 180 days before they declare bankruptcy. It also limits the kinds of debt a person can discharge through bankruptcy: If they use a credit card to spend too much money on "luxury goods" or withdraw too much in cash advances, that credit line can't be erased. And, gallingly, the bill made it completely impossible to discharge student loan debt. It may very well be the single piece of legislation most responsible for putting the U.S. in the current student debt crisis.

Biden was one of the bill's major Democratic champions, and he fought for its passage from his position on the Senate Judiciary Committee. He had pushed for two earlier bankruptcy reform bills in 2000 and 2001, both of which failed. But in 2005, BAPCPA made it through, successfully erecting all kinds of roadblocks for Americans struggling with debt, and doing so just before the financial crisis of 2008. Since BAPCPA passed, Chapter 13 filings went from representing just 24 percent of all bankruptcy filings per year to 39 percent in 2017. Melissa Jacoby, a University of North Carolina law professor specializing in bankruptcy, told Politico, "I doubt that the bill reined in the abuses that the bill was premised on, in part because they didn’t necessarily exist in the first place."

Is Warren’s claim that “all” the non-billionaires running, including Bernie Sanders, have Super Pac support correct? Sort of. It is true that a coalition called People Power for Bernie includes a Super Pac affiliated with the national nurses union, and a non-profit Sanders founded called Our Revolution, which functions in a similar way to a Super Pac. However, in response to a recent Intercept inquiry, Our Revolution said it only received a total of six donations over $5,000 in 2019 and its biggest contribution was around $25,000. It hasn’t taken money from any billionaires. It is fair to accuse Sanders of a degree of hypocrisy around Super Pacs, but it is hugely disingenuous to claim that the support he gets from nurses and contributors to Our Revolution is equivalent to the other candidates’ Super Pacs. Sanders is very much running a grassroots campaign.

This year, more women will file bankruptcy papers than will receive college diplomas. More women with children will search for a bankruptcy lawyer than will seek subsidized day care. And in a statistic with special significance for Senator Biden, more women will be victimized by predatory lenders than will seek protection from an abusive husband or boyfriend... The point is simply that family economics should not be left to giant corporations and paid lobbyists, and senators like Joe Biden should not be allowed to sell out women in the morning and be heralded as their friend in the evening. Middle-class women need help, and right now no one is putting their economic interests first.

You can get into polling and Bernie beating Trump more than Biden and in more important states, you can talk about blah blah blah. More effective is probably telling them about how the same people currently telling us that Biden is electable and Bernie is unelectable also told us in 2016 that Trump was unelectable and Hillary was electable and would beat him easily; and in 2008 that Obama was unelectable and Hillary was the safe choice; and in 2004 that Kerry was the safe electable choice; and in 2000 that Gore was the safe electable choice. The people harping on about electability don't actually have a clue what makes a candidate electable or unelectable, they just use "electable" to mean "furthest right" because they hang onto an incorrect model of how the electorate works. Here's a good article from the wave of 2016 post-mortems that explains this further:

https://twitter.com/BernieHistory/s...6pagenumber%3D3

Biden is the risky candidate, because he holds the exact same positions and represents the exact same establishment interests Clinton did in 2016, and we know how that ended up. The attacks Trump used so successfully against Clinton, from corruption to health concerns to favouring big business over American workers, can all be trotted out with very little change, to rally the exact same coalition that Trump won with last time, because Biden offers them nothing the same way Clinton offered them nothing, and will depress Democratic turnout the same way Clinton did.

Definition of insanity, etc., etc., anyone who thinks Biden is "electable" is literally doing just that, they're trying the exact same campaign ("Trump is bad and abnormal! Vote for me to return things to normal!") with the exact same figurehead ("Establishment Democratic politician whose policy views are closer aligned with big-business Republicans than with Democratic voters") and the exact same lack of appeal to people for whom "normalcy" isn't good enough, and yet they're expecting a different result. They won't get one. A vote for Biden is a vote for four more years of Trump.

Crossposting from the Succ Zone thread.

Goons, I wrote a thing because this dude apparently joined every single Democrat group on Facebook (including pro-Bernie ones) and keeps downplaying Biden's gaffes as solely due to his stutter. I just got really pissed off and wanted to point out his hypocrisy. Apparently he is a psychiatrist and professor at Johns Hopkins and wrote a bunch of articles about how Trump has dementia and he also started his own SuperPAC of other psychiatrists and neurologists who think they have to warn the public about Trump's dementia. I'm a doctor, but not a psychiatrist or neurologist and the first response to my post was asking if I was a practicing psychiatrist/neurologist as if you had to be one to notice signs and symptoms.

I've been pointing out signs of dementia in Biden in multiple posts saying that all of his recent gaffes are "just his stutter," so I've compiled this list. As I've said multiple times, a stutter is a speech disorder that affects the flow of speech, which is not what is happening here. I've also included comparisons from two articles written by Dr. John Gartner, who actually frequently posts in this group, about how he is able to see signs of dementia in Trump. I'm just applying these same exact criteria he uses for Trump and applying them to Biden, with sourced examples.

That said, I am NOT diagnosing Biden based on what I've stated here, because no doctor will be able to diagnose him without actually examining him. I am merely pointing out signs (objective evidence that can be observed by anyone) of possible cognitive decline and saying that perhaps he should undergo an actual cognitive examination. I'm wondering why there is no demand for Biden to undergo the same neuropsychologic evaluation that Dr. Gartner himself claims that Trump needs when Biden himself exhibits many of the same signs that Trump did. Trump went even further and at least provided a standard cognitive screening test, which Biden's own Doctor is quoted as saying that wasn't done when Biden released his doctor's letters in December.

Here are the two articles Dr. Gartner has written for comparison:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2019/04/09/does-donald-trump-have-dementia-we-need-know-psychologist-column/3404007002/
https://www.usatoday.com/story/opin...umn/1052290001/

quote:

Particularly troubling is the notable decline from his own previously high level of functioning. In interviews Trump gave in the 1980s and 1990s, according to STAT’s Sharon Begley, “he spoke articulately, used sophisticated vocabulary, inserted dependent clauses into his sentences without losing his train of thought, and strung together sentences into a polished paragraph.” She called that a stark contrast to today when “Trump’s vocabulary is simpler. He repeats himself over and over, and lurches from one subject to an unrelated one.” For decades, Begley notes, research has shown such changes can be indicative of neurodegenerative disease.
Signs of decline in Biden: Compare video of him even 4 years ago to any extended interviews or speeches of his today. He's able to actually get through and correctly articulate what he wants to say without any slurring, tangents or change in thought process. https://twitter.com/SharnaAisha/status/1235049620767555585?s=20

In Alzheimer’s, as language skills deteriorate, we see two types of tell-tale speech disorders, or paraphasias:
Semantic paraphasia involves choosing the incorrect words. For instance, after Attorney General William Barr released a letter on the Mueller report, Trump said: “I hope they now go and take a look at the oranges, the oranges of that investigation, the beginnings of that investigation."
It should be noted that there are six different types of semantic paraphasia. It doesn't have to be as stark a difference as the example given where Trump said oranges when he meant something else.

It should be noted that there are six different types of semantic paraphasia. It doesn't have to be as stark a difference as the example given where Trump said oranges when he meant something else.

Signs of semantic paraphasia in Biden: "I'm a Democratic candidate for the United States Senate, look me over and if you like what you see, help out if not vote for the other Biden."

Phonemic paraphasia, which is linked to the moderate to severe stages of Alzheimer’s, is described as "the substitution of a word with a nonword that preserves at least half of the segments and/or number of syllables of the intended word.” For example, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu becomes “Betanyahu,” big league becomes “bigly,” anonymous becomes “enenamas” or "anenomynous," renovation becomes “renoversh,” missiles become "mishiz," space capsule becomes “capsicle,” midterm elections become "midtowm" and "midturn" elections, and Christmas becomes “Chrissus.”

quote:

Trump’s speech patterns appear even more disordered when you go beyond the sound bite and look at a whole speech. He careens from one thought to the next in a parade of non sequiturs, frequently interrupting himself in the middle of a sentence to veer into another free association.
...
At its extreme, this is called tangential speech. As psychologist Ben Michaelis told Stat, doctors evaluating for Alzheimer’s listen for tangential remarks and non sequiturs and whether the patient can stay on topic.

Signs of circumstantial and tangential speech in Biden:
“Well they have to deal with the — Look, there is institutional segregation in this country. And from the time I got involved I started dealing with that. Redlining. Banks. Making sure that we’re in a position where — Look, talk about education. I propose that what we take is those very poor schools, the Title 1 schools, triple the amount of money we spend from 15 to 45 billion a year. Give every single teacher a raise that equal raise to getting out — the sixty-thousand dollar level.

Number two, make sure that we bring into the help the — the student, the, the teachers deal with the problems that come from home. The problems that come from home. We need — We have one school psychologist for every fifteen hundred kids in America today. It’s crazy. The teachers are reca — Now, I’m married to a teacher. My deceased wife is a teacher. They have every problem coming to them. We have make sure that every single child does in fact have three, four, and five year-olds go to school — school, not daycare. School. We bring social workers into homes of parents to help them deal with how to raise their children. It’s not that they don’t wanna help, they don’t want — they don’t know quite what to do. Play the radio, make sure the television, the — ‘scuse me, make sure you have the record player on at night, the-the-the-the phone, make sure the kids hear words. A kid coming from a very poor school, a very poor background, will hear four million words fewer spoken by the time they get there.”
https://youtu.be/4AYVwgcAOMY

"And by the way, you know I sit on the stand and it'd get hot. I got a lot of — I got hairy legs ... that turn blonde in the sun, and the kids used to come up and reach in the pool and rub my leg down so it was straight and then watch the hair come back up again. So I learned about roaches and I learned about kids jumping on my lap. I love kids jumping on my lap."
https://youtu.be/uIjYuIeEbAo

Not mentioned in the article is confabulation, which is another sign of dementia. Confabulation is when someone makes up stories to fill in any gaps in their own memory. They aren't doing this on purpose because they actually believe that it happened in the way they are describing.
Examples of confabulation in Biden would be:

Saying he was vice president during the Parkland shooting (which happened in 2018) and that he remembers the kids marching up to him on the hill and that he met with them because of it.
https://youtu.be/M5X3pIPehq4

Saying that he will appoint the first African American woman to the Senate (Senators are obviously not appointed by the president and Carol Braun took office in 1993):
https://youtu.be/jPWkoCOBz0Q

Being confronted by Iraq War veterans who said their friends died because of Biden's policies and Biden insinuating that his son also died in Iraq:
https://youtu.be/wD7e8Cld5ao

Saying that he was arrested in South Africa when he tried to meet Nelson Mandela during apartheid
https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/02/joe-biden-campaign-walks-back-false-nelson-mandela-story.html

quote:

To mental health professionals like me, the red flags are waving wildly. In January 2018, over 70 of us wrote a letter to the president’s physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, urging him to administer a cognitive exam during the president’s physical because we had seen a marked deterioration in his verbal functioning, possibly due to cognitive decline.
...
Americans have a right, indeed an urgent need, to know whether their president is suffering from dementia. We see clear signs that he is, but the only way to find out for sure is to give him a full neuropsychological evaluation and share the results with the American public.
Where is this letter urging Biden to undergo a cognitive exam? Why is there no call for Biden to do the same? Is he simply exempt because he has a (D) by his name? I keep hearing about all these "medical records" that Bernie needs to provide, but nothing about any need for Biden to undergo a full neuropsychological evaluation. But sure, hypocrisy is fine when Democrats are the ones doing it.
