It's a beautiful design marred only the the speed holes in the nacelles pylons. Like they couldn't commit to either the TOS spindly struts or the TMP gullwings so they said "do both somehow".

I don't get why they included both the speed holes and the mesh vents. If you want holes, turn the vents into holes.

What is going wrong with that one (face is longer than it should be)
I also don't like the cut out in the saucer in front of the bridge

But other than that (and the finish) it's pretty good overall

But why though.

Is anyone asking for a fourth movie at this point?

It's been utterly replaced by the prime time line that it was seeking to replace.

When you make a movie where the Enterprise being destroyed means absolutely nothing you know you hosed up.

to be fair the third film was FAR, FAR better than the bullshit white man Khan 2nd film, which was complete and utter garbage.

It wasn't great or anything but it was an improvement over radioactive poo poo.

My favorite texture is by far TOS, but TMP is also acceptable. Everything after that is lesser :colbert:

Naw, the ships should have big shark teeth and eyes painted on the face of the ship to intimidate smaller ships that look like a big shark will eat em.

Acceptable. Also acceptable would be sleazy alien pinups with crossed-out enemy ships to indicate kills.

They got a guy who does patches for the USAF to do the concepts for the DS9 ship patches, apparently.

Right now we are discussing sick rear end DS9 patches and everyone is pumped to join Starfleet.

Enterprise had the right idea by giving each ship a sick patch. We should go back to that, no more boring Starfleet delta.

I think we should go back to every ship having its own ugly-rear end chest patch that they clearly envied Enterprise so much for they lobbied to have it fleet-wide.

It’s a well thought-out evolutionary step between NASA’s red swoosh and the familiar Starfleet delta.

Goodie. Recent rumours of another Star Trek project, possibly a movie, are talking about another prequel series. Surely they must realise the prequel space is saturated and sandboxed and will just tie the hands of all involved? Enterprise, the Kelvin stuff, Discovery, Strange New Worlds, what the hell would be the point in more prequels?

Need a runabout dev episode of LDS, I really hadn't thought about what a pivotal logistics role ships like that would need to play between a fleet of sci-fi speed megaships going all different directions.

Are other shows even allowed to touch spore drive? A delivery runabout gaining access to that technology and the crew going mad with hyper efficient delivery cabin fever fungal infections.

Undying devotion to respecting the works of the past. Modern execs simply love the golden age of anything before new. They have too much respect for established publicly known characters to have the hubris to produce something not featuring character names that already have fans.

Isn't the spore drive like some super complicated drive that requires a person to be connected to the ship? Feels like something that would always be stuck at the prototype stage.

It'd be pretty cool to have one. A little space RV. That crew section featured in that one TNG episode seemed pretty cozy. Probably wouldn't wanna be tooling around with three other people long term tho
