As someone who is not at all invested in the long-term booking or quality of WWE I found the Rumble to be perfectly enjoyable. Got to laugh at the absurdity of the Brock stuff, see the Edge nostalgia pop, get a couple of entertaining eliminations and see a guy who's pretty good win.

The women's rumble had a great first half and pretty poor second half, with probably the worst possible winner. The men's rumble had an abysmal/hilarious first half and a good second half, with a winner I feel good about.

Good for Drew. But I can't say I feel any elation or overwhelming positive feelings. Drew really took a big of a backseat for the final stretch of the match. I was way more invested in Old Man Edge vs Roman in that last stretch. It was my first WWE PPV in a long while, and it had some really high points, but I don't think I could give it more than a B-grade, which is pretty poor for a Rumble.

Overall the rumble was trash, but Drew's performance in it was good killing off the two biggest heels (Brock, obvs, but also Roman got big heat for eliminating Edge, i can only hope that was the intention), they didn't murder Edge on live television, and there was some fun with Randy, so at least some ideas were good. At least some ideas were good is way above what WWE usually delivers these days.

Drew vs Brock doesn't strike me as a super compelling WM main event program. Then again I suppose I'm looking at it from a "is WM worth giving a drat about?" perspective and not a "I'm gonna watch WM anyway so lets make it the best it can be" one. In which case I can get the "anyone but Roman" angle.

Ok after a little over 2 months off from wrestling, i gotta say it was an enjoyable show, the mens rumble dragged a bit just cuz of the first 13 eliminations, the womans rumble had a bit of an issue wrapping it up but shayna and beth both deserve praise, beth just for how hosed her head got. Other matches were servicable at worst and there was nothing grossly offensive outside of the brock poo poo and santina

charlotte wonder-womaning her entire time ruined the first rumble. about 20 minutes of the second one was watchable. none of the other matches were good. all in all, it was a great outing and i'm glad i watched the WWE royal rumble once again.
