What we need is (a shitload of) aquaculture, polyculture, etc. Closed-cycle style agriculture rather than destroying massive tracts of ecosystem & biodiversity, but using less/different pesticides in the process. Would it be expensive? Yeah, but also money is just made up by the government and attaching the profit motive to a human need as basic as food is way hosed up. The government can literally just force banks to waive debts or print money to hire doctors. The government is not a person who has to carefully budget it's living expenses or it'll need to eat ramen for a month. Money is made up by the US government, and everybody else has to deal if it prints cash because the dollar is the largest reserve currency (woo oil)
