if you are making that statement, uh, foreign policy in the middle east is just one avenue of things a president does, and also killing people in mud huts with drones is deeply entrenched in US hegemony. I'm not saying that's unchangeable, or shouldn't be changed, but it's not going to be changed by violent revolution and it's sure not going to be changed by voter apathy if their guy loses the primary

-The poll was off in expected caucus goers (evidenced by the fact the the 65+ turnout was bad)
- People saw poll with the first choice below viability so immediately went to their 2nd choice
- People arrived at there was no-one for their first choice so instead of standing alone they just went to their 2nd choice

I can live with a state party handling a convoluted caucus incompetently. But if the national leadership is, through malice or incompetence, reinforcing an image that the process is a sham, they need to go. It doesn't matter if it's incompetence, they need to go.

So maybe this is a better discussion for the main pol thread, but I've always thought abortion is one of the things where this country will never be able to reach a common ground, and unlike most terrible conservative issues I can actually see the other side's point of view. If you're a non-ghoul pro-lifer, it's because you believe life starts at conception and that abortion is literally murder. And I can't really fault them, if that's their religious belief. "I'm sorry you aren't ready to raise a child, but we can't commit murder," or even "I'm sorry you were raped, but we can't commit murder." There's no way to reconcile that with pro-choice short of Jesus coming down from the mountain and saying "Actually, kids don't get a soul until they're 3 years old, it's totally fine to abort them until then."

Is there a "compromise" that can be made by outlawing abortion but giving stipends to new parents, offering state-run childcare, increasing maternity leave, overhauling the adoption system, and generally creating a social safety net so that raising (or giving up) an unexpected child isn't such a burden? How would pro-choice advocates feel about a plan to outlaw abortion but making a clear path to a nurturing home for any unwanted children?

(I am pro-choice myself, but I'm male and obviously don't have a lot of insight into the feelings on either side.)

There are other examples of people getting probed for not supporting Bernie hard enough that I'm not going to take time to dig up. Yeah here it's just for laughs or whatever but it's indicative of the attitude a lot of Bernie supporters have which is 'Bernie or "gently caress You"' .
