Rooting for Sanders on Monday. I'm currently playing the Tom Steyer drinking game. I bought a good bottle of whiskey last month, and every day I go home and check the mail. If I have a campaign flyer from Steyer, I don't have a drink. The bottle is still sealed.

Oh hey, they didn't even wait for Iowa this time. https://twitter.com/lhfang/status/1223378150316367872 DNC's already showing how they're gonna put the knife in to try and keep Bernie out this time.

How can the Democratic party machine be this loving inept even when it's trying to gently caress someone over before the primaries start? It boggles the mind, but offers a lot of explanations for why the GOP still exists...

Wicked Them Beats posted:You know how this could hurt Bernie? If Bernie were a wishy-washy candidate who crumbled at the first sign of criticism and started backtracking and apologizing. But he isn't. You come at him with this and he's just going to pivot to talking about war being an atrocity and how dumping trillions into killing people abroad while our infrastructure crumbles at home etc etc etc. This attack just lets him go right into his stump speech and his opponents aren't going to pick it up because they know it would just be pointing out one of Bernie's strengths and highlighting their own weaknesses, which is the opposite of what they'll want to do. And if the other Dems aren't laying into him with it, it's going to wither away just like the latest O'Keefe video. Exactly. "Mr. Sanders, is it true that you said the Vietnam war was bad and we should have never been involved?" "You're drat right I did, and I'll say it again now. War is an atrocity in the first place, and Vietnam was worse than most."

TURGID TOMFOOLERY posted:Explain the first-second-final thing to me like I’m a literal child please Sure! The Iowa Dem caucus runs in 3 rounds. First, everyone groups up by candidate and we count/fill out the preference form. Viability os determined by number of people present divided by number of convention delegates for the precinct (by population), and a candidate is considered viable if they have enough people to win at least one delegate. After this round, those who went with non-viable candidates can switch their vote, either joining a viable candidate or joining together to make one or more non-viable candidates viable. They then fill out the second form. Third is dividing the number of available delegates among the viable candidates according to their proportion of the vote. On a tie they flip a coin to award the delegate. Liquid Communism fucked around with this message at 04:27 on Feb 4, 2020 |
