Strom Cuzewon posted:I like how "the Labour Party has a long and varied past" is one of those things that sounds perfectly reasonable, but in the context of a twitter list, you just know theres gonna be some madness later on. Funny how when Blair wanted to scrap clause 4 and take the party to the right, the socialists complained about the party becoming unrecognisable they were told to shut up and lump it and move with the times for the good of the party and it was all good and no problem. But now the left is reasserting itself all of a sudden change is terrible, it's a big hard left conspiracy and they absolutely. Will. Not. Shut. Up about it in the press, sabotaging the leadership and melting down over Twitter to the delight of their clapping circle, from now until forever, gently caress the consequences. Centrism is the goddamn worst.

It is weirdly out of character for the thread, most times when a topic comes up people don't care about or they find the poster annoying they don't turn that into a stick to beat them with. If you don't care, don't read, if you don't know about the topic either way, listen, if you don't like the poster, ignore and if they're being extra lovely report. Turning around and going "who rattled your leeks " is kind of uncalled for and uncomradely.

Coohoolin posted:I'm not sure if making a big deal out of anything that isn't the most tangible and basic life quality stuff is going to help labour. It's the catch 22 situation where a lot of the country (geographically, demographically) can look at the Tories and see how they're not caring about their problems. But the moment the left move to address those problems, the same people look at that and say "why are you bothering with that fringe issue" because they don't recognise the problem THEY care about is someone else's fringe issue. I think the only way you deal with that is to try and encourage solidarity outside of the electoral system, encourage people to care about the issues that don't effect them so directly, see an attack on one as an attack on all. Ironically enough, that would do wonders for spreading the consciousness that leads to us getting elected, it's just how you go about doing that in a system that is so stacked against such a lot of people that they can't afford to care about the problems that do directly effect them let alone the ones that don't. That probably involves shaming a bunch of people who are currently content to be idle Guardian reading commentariat to show up more than once every 4 years and actually use some of their freedom from consequences of austerity to benefit someone else.

I got one of the last lot of red ones, it's just a shame the photo was taken before I grew into my new face properly. As my gender therapist said "they're cheaper to replace if they meet with an accident in a dishwasher, say" but I might just keep it, mugshot and all. I'd love it if I never had to replace it for a blue one. It'll never happen that way, but a girl can dream.

So uh... I got an email the other day saying basically we can't let you vote in the leader election because the name you're registered with us isn't *exactly* the same as the one on the electoral roll. I did reply to it and got an automated response but nothing since. How hosed am I?

Oh cool, I didn't realise it was open so long. There's a meeting coming up so I'll talk to them there. Thanks

But on the days I have time to write I can get a few hundred words down and I'm not just hitting my stride when I run out of time.
