So the verdict is in. Mums Merc is McFucked but insurance paying out in full. Estimated $28k dollarydoos in engine/electrics damage. Now parents are arguing over what to get. They always have one 'fun/nice' car and one beater utility car. It was stepdads go last time with an Alfa Romeo he loved it, mum hated it. Then mum got the Merc, she loved it, he hated it. Meanwhile their little old Honda Integra has outlasted everything for over 15 years, scooters and motorbikes included. I'm being devils advocate to both of them. He loves OG NSXs and she loves Audi Stationwagons.

STR posted:2600k, 16GB, GTX 960. I've gone and virtualized everything in the house onto an aging DL380 completely maxed out on what Xeons and RAM it will take, with my RX480 and 1060TI jerry rigged into it, then a 12 bay 2U RAID module for all data. So far everything is playing very nicely if I don't breathe hard. I watch too much Linus Tech Tips and don't listen to enough Level1 for real advice.

Well looks like I have a problem brewing! At least it isn't one of the media drives - I had a failure of one last month but managed to migrate data off onto a new drive. I was also stupid then and didn't mirror stuff.

My girlfriend is completely totally obcessed with anything Tomb Raider. For Valentines, I 3D printed and painted some ice axes for her cosplay stuff. Then found a Weta Workshop 36 of 500 movie prop bow and arrow still in it's original shipping box from Weta. I've got a signed by Adam Hughs Issue 1 of the comic from the 90s hiding away for her birthday.

The weird thing is that inside the shipping box, then inside the real box (all sealed) there is not a single Certificate of Authenticity or numbering. The only way to know is from the freight box. Guess it's gonna be worth a bit in time then.

My neighbour works for Holden and is pretty much too old to retrain and not close enough to legit retirement. I'll have to take some beers over tomorrow and see if theres a way I can get him into my industry with a minimum of fuss.

My place of employment is becoming more and more intolerable to deal with. Lucky for me I needed some parts at a place in town and casually half-joked to the manager if they have any jobs (I know staff really well). Was marched straight into her office where the state manager was on a call. Looks like I've jumped a huge line and got an impromptu interview with the guy who makes the decisions normally in Brisbane. Could be for me!

My feelings on today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao5Kq0hJwzY At least now I am on a much needed vacation. About to fly to a concert and the album arrived so I can legally listen to it on repeat until Saturday night.

Well, I'm finally home after a completely bonkers week in Sydney. Much fun was had. met some very interesting people, both naked and clothed (not related to Mardi Gras which I didn't know was on - but I did have a fun night at a club Saturday night though!). I also might need some medical attention to my feet as I have at least torn something, worst broken stuff. Glad to be home though!
