Hell, fellow Survivor fans. For some reason I had this thread unbookmarked. Probably the victim of a fit of depression and "I'm over all of it" I recently suffered. But I had to dig it up to say that any past posts I've made about how I'm sad Survivor doesn't do more survival stuff have now been answered because I've discovered Naked & Afraid XL and holy loving poo poo. This show is like everything I've always wondered if a Survivor would do and more. These fuckers caught like half a dozen alligators! They built rafts, canoes, and bridges! They had to vacate their camps and search for new more fertile ground only to come across each other and merge tribes! They stole honey from bees and shot a squirrel with an arrow! I love this insane stupid show and anyone wanting to see more survival stuff on Survivor like hunting, hunger, building shelters, sickness, and HIDING FROM loving BEARS! I'd very much suggest you check this out.

I haven't seen Naked & Afraid yet, although might change that this week. If you want a hardcore survival show though, Alone is pretty crazy... Although a couple seasons get kind of dark with people clearly torturing themselves because they really just need the money... Has to be tough being basically Alone most of the time (they do medical and swap memory cards and batteries) and trying to be the last person to tap out... but not knowing how long the show will go...

I watched through that season in the fall or so. I am pretty sure they mention it at some point in the season, but even then it wasn't a set 100 day competition, they still only had 1 million dollar prize to whoever lasted longest. If somehow 2 people made it, the competition would have kept going past the 100 day mark... But the health checks pretty much make it nearly impossible for anyone to actually make it that long since you have to have some insane skills or luck to keep your BMI up for that long surviving outdoors in the winter... Although it's a really good & fun season.

I guess that makes it kind of weirder since its just the implication and for weirdos trying to peek through the blurs or something. It did set up extra survival stuff in this season I watched like people having injuries or infections that kept them from doing stuff because they couldn't cover them up to affect them. Its probably an unnecessary added hurdle and the whole thing's probably a weird way to sell sex. But I dunno. The big lasting impression I have of it from this season is the fat old guy who keeps going spread eagle to have a medic check the injury on his balls. Hot.

Survivor Aus is going to be epic. It’s filmed in Australia this season and unlike US season 2 it’s actually being filmed in the outback and not a subtropical coastal location. The environmental conditions alone are going to be absolutely brutal on them.

random survivor related thoughts: 1. its going to be forever notoriously difficult to google/wiki survivor stuff sans spoilers isn't it? Wikipedia is a mine field. I remember this every couple years when I decide to "get back into survivor" 2. they would do well to even more aggressively steal from social deduction games/the genius. blood on the clocktower has that ghost variant where dead still get one vote to be used on any future day. 3. the best form of survivor is forum survivor followed closely by that 90s best survivor moments website. 4. i heard the new survivor south africa has a diverse cast and is good.
