Unironically what is the difference between Fianna Fael and Fine Gael because even the mainstream news sites can't seem to point to one. How do Irish people decide which one to vote for? Just flip a coin?

How do Irish people decide which one to vote for? Just flip a coin? which side your family fought for in the civil war e: this isnt a joke btw quote:R. Ken Carty wrote of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael that they were 'heterogeneous in their bases of support, relatively undifferentiated in terms of policy or programme, and remarkably stable in their support levels'. Evidence from expert surveys, opinion polls and candidate surveys all fail to identify strong distinctions between the two parties.[48][49][50][51] Many point to Ireland's Civil War politics, and feel that the basis for the division is the disagreement about the strategy to achieve a united Ireland. How do Irish people decide which one to vote for? Just flip a coin? Fine Gael are more socially liberal, Fianna Fail more conservative. Economically there isnt a lot between them. Fine Gael are a little further to the right while Fianna Fail are more willing to compromise on economic policies based on whoever they end up in coalition with.
