Reporting from a town of 7000: At poll open time there were 2 Bernie people at the entrance and I think one Pete guy on a corner. The people behind me were talking about voting for who had the best chance in the general. Probably 30 people in line. High Schoolers were selling baked goods at the entrance for class trip. Town Facebook group has been overrun by Trump trolls for about 4 months and currently a thread on voting for Trump to show him he has support of the people has like 50 comments. welp that’s NH cya laters

Harrow posted:In the interest of setting my expectations appropriately: are we likely to learn actual results tonight? How have things gone for previous New Hampshire primaries? I don’t think this has been a thing. Ballots are Scantron’d and we hold our primary very very dear so I don’t think the ball is going to drop. Also people expect Bernie to do well so the desire to gently caress with the results is probably pretty low, better for like NV and IA where it isn’t exactly clear.

is Nate pretending there is actual bookmaking and analysis underlying the betting lines instead of a bunch of rich white dudes getting their rocks off on paper gambling?

Joementum posted:probably true and worth mentioning that amy had no operation in NH. way too much media effect in this primary. Bernie could definitely win the nom but just objectively thinking it is starting to get hard to think that a majority of Americans will vote for a democratic socialist. It is just really easy to spook people with the S word

GonadTheBallbarian posted:actually i misremembered, you don't even need a driver's license, you just need to sign an affidavit that you are who you say you are NH isn't really populous/diverse enough to really have voter suppression. The biggest thing they tried was like outright ban college students who claim the University as their residence Other than that I mean you definitely have poorer populations and marginalized people, but its exceptionally rural and those affected I don't think would have a significant effect. It's sad it could still exist but it isn't like states with large swathes of suppressed voters
