Love to see the Johnson news. It’s such a great example of how the general public don’t actually give a poo poo about what they claim to. Imagine if this was Corbyn. Just loving imagine.

I don't think that's true, the thing with the corona virus is that it seems to be very contagious and basically doesn't look like it is going to be contained at this point. It’s not that it’s especially contagious (R naught, or the amount of people a carrier infects is 2.2 compared to 3 for SARS and 10-20 for measles) it’s more that the incubation period is loooooong which is great for spreading widely.

The lack of testing (unless you’re somehow a celebrity) is pretty annoying. I’m isolating with symptoms, having been in contact with someone who absolutely has it (he’s basically a tick list of the symptoms) but because no-one he has been with (we’ve both been at large events with an international audience a couple of weeks ago) has been officially diagnosed, he can’t get tested, so I can’t get tested. It’s like a magical chain where somehow someone in it needs to have been tested. But they’re not testing anyone.

The better healthcare I mean, not the population and density stuff obviously.

North and South Italy might as well be two entirely separate countries in terms of wealth etc.

When you're chatting poo poo with your mates obviously talk/type however you want but when you're in a business relationship or a landlord situation I'm always shocked by the poor standard of many people's written English.

Source: recently got shafted by someone on some roofing work and their emails got less and less coherent each time I asked for an itemised breakdown of costs.

I feel in the case of the above it’s because they don’t really give a poo poo. It’s not a professional arrangement to them, the landlord clearly thinks they’re acting out of charity.

Because what’s more charitable than immediately resorting to veiled threats against someone’s place of shelter?

If you have symptoms of CV or someone in your house does, you can get an isolation note from the NHS (only released recently I think)

Tick someone in your house has symptoms for a 14 day note, otherwise it's just a 7 day note (which is odd as if you live with someone who has it, it's 14 days isolation but if you have it yourself, half that time?)

The guidance is 7 days if you live alone, 14 if you live with someone else - maybe they’ve coded that in incorrectly.

It's quite difficult to know with no testing available. I suppose 14 days after you and her last had contact would be enough for her to show symptoms if you did have it?

I was just talking with my sister yesterday: She and I and a couple of other family members have had 'weird colds' since January (myself early March) before we really knew about this thing. I have had a cough now for several weeks. BUT these are something I am prone to anyway. We're all self-isolating anyway.

When I say 'weird colds' - I went back and checked out a message I sent her early March so I knew I wasn't making it up - I had a sore throat (normal harbinger of a cold for me) but it didn't last the usual 12 hours - one side of my throat then the other - and then seem to go and then turn into a full blown snot fest, it lasted over 48 hours and did not go snotty. I felt that my chest was full of chalk. Various other things that could have been mild symptoms of CV. But might not have been.

I suspect it has been present in the UK for some weeks longer than we think.

This is almost exactly my symptoms too - right down to the early March timeline. Over the last couple of days I’ve swung around to it just being a weird cold rather than roni, was considering going out today after (mostly) isolation for the last week.

How bad must it be in reality if in these isolated cases about 1 in 7 have no symptoms? I'm really worried about the end of my holiday on Thursday, I feel like my cold is finally knocked on the head but I'm out of the frying pan into the fire. The seats at the desk must be 3 feet away from each other.

Yeah, I think that’s probably fairly reflective of the population. If ‘normal’ people can’t get tested they’ll go through just like these footballers, have it and never even realise. It’s only because the clubs have managed to get them tested.
