The general working theory is that, as a weird virus we haven't seen before, active immune systems can fight it off better. Most diseases take out the young and elderly, but the young are generally disease-infected petri dishes to begin with. So, it's only lethal to the olds with their tired immune systems, or the immunocompromised.

Cugel the Clever posted:Biden winning MN by the margins that are being talked about makes zero sense to me, to the point that I'm almost willing to indulge in conspiracy theories. What, did a bunch of centrist/conservative Dems just vote against Clinton in 2016? It's a pretty reasonable story really. Voters are old as poo poo, even Democrats, and they hated Hillary. Democrats have had a long history of hating Hillary, New York was just so drat democratic that they were happy to elect her as Senator. So, Bernie got a shitload of the anti-hillary vote, which from afar was mistaken for revolutionaries feeling the Bern. Biden's main strategy was to go hard into South Carolina and turn out the black/moderate vote, while trying/failing at the others in a crowded field. He almost didn't make it, as he was basically broke. But then he got such a big landslide in South Carolina that he caused nearly all the other people to drop out. The drop outs were trying to figure out where the black/moderate vote was going and it became pretty drat clear. The drop outs, plus the SC landslide, sent a huge signal that Biden's the mainstream guy if you don't want to vote Bernie. Turns out, there are a lot of old fucks that hated Hillary, plus hate the idea of socialism / societal reform. Every indication is that Bernie just isn't pulling out the young voters to compete with the olds. Edit: Also Minnesota is getting purple instead of straight Blue.

Biden's turning out those voters, plus there's a suburban surge, tracking pretty closely with the 2018 elections. Biden's national head-to-heads are more or less equal to Bernie's, margin of error stuff. Really, you could say that about all of the Democrats. So feel free to hail gay satan, but it's better than y'all think. I won't be voting for Biden in the primary, but he's sure getting $420 if he's the nominee.

Bored As gently caress posted:Keep your money, daddy warbucks Bloomberg said he'd give a billion dollars to whoever the nominee is, except if its Bernie. You've got me wrong. There's a federal database, a permanent database, of anyone that has ever given more than $200 for a candidate. I specifically gave Hillary a bunch of money because if we were going down, I wanted future people to recognize that I got it right. If future people could still read. I'm making the same decision this time, just righting a great wrong. My name should say that I donated $420.69 to the correct candidate. I'm actually not sure if I can donate the 69 cents though. Guess I'll find out when the primary is over!
