In the US we have "Main Street" which is the center of the city or town. It's where the action happens. It's where the action happens.
According to my extensive studies of the UK which involves watching Top Gear in the 2000s, in Britian there is a "High Street" which is the center of town or shire or council or estate ok I didn't learn that much.
