I went to a 99 Ranch in the SF Bay Area the other day, and yeah. Certain types of produce were completely picked over, but there was still a good selection. The only meats available were a couple of whole chickens and some assorted offal, but there was plenty of seafood. Only one brand of tofu left but whatever, it's tofu. Mitsuwa was pretty much the same story. Oddly enough, I ended up buying rice at Daiso. I wasn't planning on buying groceries there, but it was $3 for 2lbs of brown rice, so why not.
