If we allow shipping, I want to present Captain Barnacle and Pedro as gay icons. Naval jokes aside, my daughter recognized them as a couple like her dads. This is supported by the text of the show too, they live together and Captain Barnacle makes a point of introducing Pedro to his family.

Plus that moustache. As the Captain Barnacle analog, I wish I could pull that off.
