Major patch with some very long overdue changes to the way RvR progression works. Also based on this it appears to be a lot faster to get geared up to a high item level right under Sovereign, if the ranked Triumphant set/Victorious set are considered equivalent to Invader. Obviously I don't know how the drop rate or how quickly people can accumulate War Crests playing occasionally, but I think the changes were long overdue. I've been logging on more lately just to see changes (RL kinda blew up and who knew being a father made you this busy?) and I kind of want to finish a Sov set on either my Slayer or Choppa. Leaning towards Choppa because that armor set just does things for me.

I want to try this game. I have kinda decided I want to try something niche considering it is mostly a PvP game and not PvE. I want to get a decent WP Grace or DoK Sacrifice build. I aim to be good at small scale PvP, but be tanky enough to survive bigger PvP scenarios too. Perhaps have different armor set for large scale PvP where I go full healing instead.

Yep, that is exactly what most WP or DoK's do. It's easier to get both sets now with the unified currency; previously you want to only queue scenarios to get the off-spec gear. Now you can do anything to get the same currency that buys all of the sets.

Hit RR78 on Runepriest, two more levels and then I gotta grind 9999 war crests for the Triumphant jewelry piece and I'll be BiS. Think I'm going to level an Ironbreaker or KOTBS to have another Order character to play/gear. Population took a bit of a dip with the new DAOC Eden server launch but still going strong for most part.

Nice1, there is a lot of crossover between playerbases for DAOC freeshards & Return of Reckoning, obviously being two major open world RvR/PvP MMOs. Let me know whether you roll Order or Destro. Having a guild to play with/start on the server with will definitely make it a lot better experience & more enjoyable since it's just much easier to win scenarios in an organized group, even if you're new players. I downloaded the game again and all the addons last weekend but haven't bothered setting anything up yet. Kind of getting the pvp/rvr itch. Tried playing Eden a few times now, and having that Uthgard style pve slog (albeit truncated) to get geared just ain't it. Also from reading the Discord every few days it's not surprising it poo poo the bed.

Yeah honestly the PvE stuff & thinking Phoenix 2.0 would be live by now prevented me from playing Eden at all. I've been playing RoR more than ever last 3 months though and having a lot of fun in warbands, strictly have played Order last three months to get Runepriest to RR80 finally. Time to level another Order character to gear out, and I have RR65 Choppa/Sorc/DoK I can play on Destro to gear.

No mostly everyone quit by 2021 (I did as well) but the population on server is like 1200 people primetime so it's still good. I've started playing again on Order last 6+ months to get BiS gear for Runepriest. Only need x9999 war crest jewelry piece which is taking months and I'm done, I'll probably start playing a Order tank to gear up. And on Destro I have a lot more characters to play/gear. I got into this maybe a week ago and made a warrior priest because I've been chasing the melee healer feeling for the last decade and nothing has measured up. T1 is still fun, but order definitely feels like a faction full of dummies. I like the aesthetic more and they're the underdog population so I want to stick with it, but trying to wrangle some teamwork in RvR is like pulling teeth.

To succeed in PvP/RvR people have to be playing their individual roles. Join the discord and we can level Order characters/hopefully can get 4 or 5 of us leveling, winning scenarios as group is a lot more fun to level than getting farmed Swordmaster or Ironbreaker if I choose to level tank, which is only class archetype I don't have lvl40, or an AoE DPS like Brightwizard. Honestly if your chasing for fun melee healer Warrior Priest certainly could be your answer. All three specs of Warrior Priest are 'viable,' with the shield spec being the best for 6man content/kind of mandatory for a team. I have a 40 DoK which I liked but I just enjoy healing more on Runepriest so I've only played that since I came back to the game. Largest NA presence on Order is guild called The Jempire, they're always on with warband during NA night time. But yeah for most part the server population is spread out everywhere, with most populated time being EU night/roughly 12PM-5PM EST time where can get over 1200 people on. Scenarios with pubbies are so frustrating sometimes. The fundamentals of the game are pretty basic and easy to understand, especially at low levels. But I'll jump into a scenario with randoms and people will be targeting tanks, targeting many different enemies rather than focusing on one or two, ignoring healers, not staying together, ignoring the capture points, etc. When I play a scenario I try to win, but people just seem content getting farmed, and then have the audacity to press "no" when a surrender is called. The score is 6 to 321, they have 3 flags, and we can't even get out of our spawn. Just surrender at that point! Move on to the next scenario. I'd rather people who play like this just afk at that point. At least I can excuse that. Maybe they stepped away for a minute. Maybe they had an emergency.

Surrendering happens a lot more these days than when I first started playing 2020 in which people rarely surrendered. But yeah it's a struggle queuing for scenarios with pugs and they are just pounding away at a tank that is not going to die, until they get killed. The server is a mix of very experienced players leveling alts, new players trying it out for the first time who have no clue what is going on or how to play, and then probably just bad players I don't really know how else to characterize it really. For anybody that is leveling I want to get an Ironbreaker & Bright Wizard to 40 on Order & I have a Shaman on Destro that I would also level, join the discord to organize. They have a pug scenario called "Discordant Skirmish" you used to be able to queue with 2 but since they said people were exploiting it or something you have to be solo to queue for it. I'd guess that most people in scenarios, on order at least, are just trying to max their relevant contribution (usually doing damage), and don't quite get that playing the objective and winning will get you more renown than doing the most damage and losing. Although I guess on Order we usually lose within just a couple of minutes. It's almost always a blowout so maybe being able to smash all of the low reward scenarios back to back is worth it in the end.

I'm having fun messing around in this, played a Warrior Priest up to 23/23 and now I've got a Shaman at 19/20 an incredibly close scenario at tier 2 level in solo queue  Lots of healing in this one

Took slight break last month but finally hit 9999 crests for the Triumphant jewelry replica. That's probably the most amount of time I've spent grinding an item in an MMO. Now I just need another 1200 for the Fortress weapon to stack -25% build times proc and I'm best-in-slot. If anybody is still playing or trying to level I'll be around leveling tank on Order/Destro. I bought a new PC & monitors also and the game performance increase will probably have me playing even more.
