Dinosaur Gum

#02 Caine DeLaine

Set adrift like so much cotton candy pollen on the wind... How curiously troublesome!

We have much work to do - hooves don't fail me now!

1: Work on the Farm never ceases.
A: The [Gumdrop] Seeds on their trellises needed watering, and with no rain in sight I'll have to do it myself.

Meanwhile, however:
- The [Cadbunny] Critter eggs spun on tender threads from the [peppermint] windmill, but the Calm only held so much breeze. To optimize their growth, some good old manual labour was needed.
- The [Cotton Candy] Cocoons needed plenty of sunlight to grow, but not too much or they’d melt before they were ripe. The proper application of shade was a necessity.

2: Your Island is currently in The Calm. Do you wish to keep your Elevation?
The answer to all three problems was obviously to go Down and search for some storm clouds that could provide adequate rain, wind, and shade...

4: There is an Island nearby, that of #10 Gonne Di Bonne.
To #10 Gonne Di Bonne: "...Good luck."

Tower City

The Wizard furrowed his impressive brow, equally as worried as he was puzzled. Already a full season had passed, with nary a flicker of static from his Radio. Surely, he thought to himself, the Weaving was successful. He had worked the ritual himself, and the spent Mana Crystals littered the floor of his study, faded and dull. Could it all have been a dream? No, he had asked the citizens of Tower City, all ten of them, just to be sure, and they had all agreed that the festival of commencement had occurred. So why hadn't he heard back from the farmers? Why had no one come back to chat or trade, or even to retire?

At first he had supposed they had simply all been busy, exploring the Sea of Clouds and their new island homes, getting settled in with the business of growth and tending. He had briefly considered whether a local stormfront might be causing interference, blocking the signals and so on, but it had long since passed. Gradually the people of Tower City had gone back to their own old pleasant lives, not overly concerned with the fate of the throng of self sufficient nomads that had oh so recently crowded the capitol island to its very limit of buoyancy.

But not so the Wizard. No, something was amiss in His Sky and he resolved to do something about it.

Or rather, as was his wont, to ask someone else for help.

So it was that Sandy Loam, Lighthouse Keeper of the Midnight Region found themselves apprenticed and tasked with finding out more about the missing farmers, and what fates they might have encountered our there, amongst the swirling winds.
