Possibly the ol Russian invasion put paid to a RA2 remaster for awhile as well? Nintendo felt the need to delay a fully finished Advance Wars remake for most of a year or more because of it and that's not even close to anything real. RA2 is about Russia attacking Europe and the US, and lets you do some war crimes.
