J.theYellow posted:He said an independent prosecutor might be on the table, but announcing anything that sounds like the intention to nail the guy that effectively just less than 50% of the American public voted for and you'd really rather not piss off before you take office, before you take office, does not sound, politically speaking, wise. Voter turnout was about 66%, so just under 33% of the eligible American public voted for their big wet orange daddy. Like acebuckeye says, the system as currently designed is further and further warped to let a smaller and smaller part of the population decide who wins, because otherwise the GOP falls permanently out of power. Acebuckeye13 posted:tl:dr You're not in school anymore, you don't get points for more words. Let's take one thing you've asserted though, that labor unions are opposed to Medicare for All. I would say that labor leaders are opposed while the rank and file union members are in favor of it as they are smart enough to recognize a better deal when they see one. The leadership is in with the upper higher ups in the Democratic Party and are beholden to the moneyed interests of the health care industry. They are opposed to changing that status quo because it takes away their power as union leaders and it takes away from profits for the insurance companies. The Nevada caucus was a good example of this. The party line leading up to it was to not vote for Sanders because his M4A program would end the benefits the union had fought for. The union membership overwhelmingly voted for him. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2020/2/19/21142592/nevada-culinary-union-nevada-caucuses-sanders-medicare-for-all

Given the quality of what's been built, it'll fall down on its own soon enough.

The really sad thing is that even if every section of the wall was torn down the moment Biden took office, there's no reversing much of the ecological and archaeological damage that has already been done.

I wouldn't be surprised if the DOD pushed to end the border mission on January 21st because the funds going to that mission for active duty troops is absolutely having an impact on other training events. I'm sure the local hotels and restaurants like all the new business though.

Active Duty maybe, but they're now sending Guard UH-72 units to provide border support on 365 day Title 10 orders, like a regular deployment. That has been illuminating if only to see how many states treat the Lakotas as an after thought. The company from the Indiana guard had one pilot for 4 aircraft, and he was the CO. Most states use the 72 flight school slots to send people to Rucker, then use those pilots to fill out the advanced airframe units.

the border wall is a sideshow distraction when we have serious loving work to be done for this nation, why would we waste our efforts on that? we need to drill down on getting back to basics and unfucking our institutions by giving cabinet and advisor roles to Meghan McCain and John Kasich and putting efforts in to further persecuting the progressive members of DNC Congress who also happen to include a lot of women of color GOP will get 2022 and 2024 handed to them these loving idiots are the second greatest risk to our democracy after the GOP and the whole 'well at least they aren't the GOP!' line is loving played out but we're probably too far gone for any progress in the next decade
