"Perform." We already have the word act, which is an exact synonym. Like "perform masculinity" vs. "act masculine." The second has the same meaning but it way less pretentious

Jewel Repetition posted:That's like saying "show that you're clever" is different from "demonstrate your cleverness." They're different forms of the same word Act and perform aren’t universally interchangeable. An overbearing parent might tell their kid to “act like a man” but they’d never say “perform masculinity.” “He was acting strangely” isn’t replaceable with “he was performing strangely.” Saying someone is performing a behavior draws attention to the fact that the performance is the point. “Acting” is used is a much looser way, often akin to “behaving.”

I've been seeing a lot of people on Twitter ALL-CAPS words for emotional EMPHASIS especially when dealing with emotional topics like POLICE BRUTALITY or the covid PANDEMIC on the NAVAJO land and I hate it so much that it makes me have a split-second where I DISAGREE with Tweets that I would AGREE with and find SENSIBLE and CORRECT if they weren't typed like a grandma having a SEIZURE with an E-MAIL FORWARD.

“radicalized” when it comes to politics like democratic socialism. having an 81 year old dad who has been a democratic socialist my whole life might make me biased but it’s just being reasonable, not especially radical at all. did I already say that? I’m old and forgetful
