Big fan of doom/drone/sludge like Earth, Sunny O))), Sleep, The Melvins, The Body, etc. I'm generally not into straight grindcore but I do dig noisegrind like Locust and White Mice. Also really noisy poo poo like Unsane. |

nut posted:u gonna say all that and not post pics? im rolling up my sleeve initimdateinglyal  i grew this in a stainless steel saucepan using a hot plate. the colors are kind of lovely because i always let my melts get too hot  havent done it in a while but if i do it again im gonna need maybe 10-20 more lbs of metal to work with and an infrared thermometer, like the kind with the lil laser pointer. ideally you want it to get not much hotter than its melting temp of 525 F bc the hotter it is, the more oxide it produces at the top and the more dull purple you'll get in your crystals. fun fact: it is technically radioactive, but the decay is so slow that the half life is more than a billion times the age of the universe

Black metal, in particular atmospheric stuff in the vein of Burzum (horrid guy, pretty music, whatever - if I only ever consumed ethical media I'd live a very boring life). Also like some power metal (particular the stuff that incorporates folk instruments) and thrash. Really not a fan of death metal. It tries way too hard and most of it sounds like a muddy overly-downtuned mess. Worth noting I am much less picky about genre when attending live shows. i mostly like it fast and with showy drums and guitars. I've seen strapping young lad more times than any other band except maybe gwar because those beautiful motherfuckers came through norfolk, VA or thereabouts on tour for every single album and they brought a lot of good bands with them over the years like Nile that never fuckin came back ever again. This is why skullet Devin Townsend will always be the frontman of my heart, with Oderus Urungus as hype man.
