That first interrupted limit break is exactly what happened to me in that fight. There's just so many small cutscenes around the time when you get your limit, I'm not sure if it's even possible to pull one off until the last phase.

I've pretty much given up on forcing staggers in boss fights. When they happen, fine, but with how many bosses just no-sell stagger whenever they feel like it, it's clearly not meant to be. Now, enemies that fly around at the speed of light while your party consists of only close-range fighters? Those can kiss my rear end.

habeasdorkus posted:e: Also, at some point I'm gonna have to start linking to FFVII Blazed - because that was an extremely dumb & fun twitter thread. I googled it and I swear the Don Corneo stuff makes more sense there than in the actual game.

That scene definitely works as a way of establishing that Cloud has PTSD and is generally messed up. As a new player, I didn't mind it, and didn't even know it wasn't in the original until my husband told me. It probably would have worked better if Cloud had just had a short glimpse of the burning town with no visible Sephiroth, instead of this extended scene, then later they could have added more to it. They did overuse Sephiroth for the game.

Is it that he just likes trolling Cloud? That's what I went with.

DeathChicken posted:You know what this kind of reminds me of? Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (another game that was famously...um, divisive), where everything is like you remember, except not and it's *really* offputting Does this means FFVIIR will end with the reveal that Marlene is telling the story to her therapist Dr S. Ephirot who will psychoanalyze Cloud based on how many porno mags he picked up?
