The nickname field won't support that much. You remain "Lightning," I'm afraid. As for pistol sharpshooter, that's not a problem. I basically don't bother with rifle sharpshooters until later (at which point I can just re-train a couple pistoleers.) I really hate riflemen.

Sharpshooters have their uses. Once FairGame has some better toys at his disposal, and his Sharpshooters have a few levels under their belts, they can become incredibly deadly. It's a combination of skills and gear. But you could make that argument about any of the classes really. Even Specialists, yet Sharpshooters have some spectacular tricks up their sleeves.

Yeah, this is correct. A good sniper is very handy to have on certain missions. It's just that those missions tend to be few and far between, and basically non-existent during the first couple months of the campaign. When we start assaulting research facilities where we can take as much time as we want and set up on a nice rooftop, I'll absolutely be bringing a rifle-specced sniper.

This is absolutely gonna get me playing WOTC again, my laptop chugs with it though. How is it on PS4? I only made it a few missions in because of the chug, and with the tutorial on, never even got to see the templars (they're clearly amazing).

Cheers! :v:

WOTC gave a couple of buffs that help Sharpshooters/Specialists more than other classes because you can take both perks from a rank instead of choosing pistol spec OR rifle spec. That and the Hunter chosen's overpowered unique sniper rifle can fire with only 1 action instead of 2, in addition to its built-in weapon upgrades and good stats, so sharpshooters aren't quite as lame as they were in vanilla xcom2. Though they still don't get quite as much hilarious superhero bullshit as Rangers/Grenadiers and the faction heroes. :v:

A warning though: if you overuse the guerrilla action that lets you stack an arbitrary number of "+1 movespeed" boosts on a single soldier, in order to make a Templar that can combopunch every enemy on the map in one turn, at least on PC the game gets really laggy when trying to render their movement grid.

Yo that pod can gently caress right off.

Okay Lightning Hands is not as cool as Bladestorm on a Templar but that is still a solid alt skill. At best do 3-ish extra dmg to a guy before doing your turn and at worst your turn continues as normal. Not a great pick but it could be worse. I also think ghost bros can use it too???

You didn't ask me this once through all the times I went out on my own with just a pistol and a cool jacket to my name, and the moment I decide "gently caress it" and get myself a big gun you're asking me that question? You're not my commanding officer any more, Ted :colbert:

My flat-top is absolutely fabulous. I didn't anticipate that overall look for my soldier but I like it. :D Also glad I accredited myself pretty well.

Man, that mission was harsh. Are these out of season enemies showing simply due to legend? Any idea how they made it in to the mission? Stun lancers are one of the most hateful things for the game to throw at you all the way to the mid game. I developed a thorough dislike of them.

That was also some amazing performance by Megane. I see why so many people voted Templar. Only played base game not WotC so didn't have a good idea of how the faction soldiers play in the actual game.

It's going to pay off eventually--I'm sure of it.

Any day now.

I've never even seen that on Legendary, and I've played a couple campaigns on that setting. That was just a straight middle finger from the game, in apparent defiance of its own rules.

I missed the faction vote but I'm pretty happy with Templar too! They're fun and stylish to play with. Reapers are probably better overall (and I hope we see some remote detonation shenanigans once you get one) but Templars do so much running around and weird stuff and dumb pretentious lines that it's just delightful.

Holy poo poo I just got finished watching the previous video, this is one hell of a rollercoaster and we're only two missions in. If this is going to be anything like last time, then I look forward to hanging out with all my medbay buddies during the great scoutsharpshooter purge of 2020.

Fairgame, did you intentially set my character to look like the last one? Sweet!
And is it possible to make the subtitles go a bit (say 25%) slower? I used to think I read at a decent clip but this is kicking my rear end.

Will do re: sub timing, though I did the next video last night. Will extend the length thereafter.

I think I will just do subs throughout, I don’t really like the audio quality of the ps4 mic.

76% shot success rate is drat low given the number of gimmes we had in that mission. :( My lad didn't acquit himself as well this time.

I do not regret asking for a Pistol Sharpshooter because their tree is basically "shoot all the things in one turn" and either tag everything with status effects or with bits of damage for others to follow up on. Sadly they're still of relative situational use compared to the other classes who can be more generally useful

I love the potoo,
and the potoo loves you.
The willpower system alone makes me think I made the correct decision in not buying War of the Chosen.

Edit: Wow the Lost seem un-fun to fight. I like the idea of a different kind of enemy that forces you to play and fight very differently, and I could see these being fun if you have the right tools for them, but as it is they seem very tedious and bullshit. You know, just like every appearance of zombies in every video game ever.

Does anyone know how the long war for xcom2 worked? I was a huge long war fan for the original, but never touched the second game. I'm curious as to what sort of BS was packed into this one to the point where the devs say to just play the chosen dlc.

On the topic of willpower, one thing it forces you to do is develop a larger group of soldiers and not rely on a core roster of six. This makes early rookie deaths more likely but also allows you to experiment more with soldier builds. In my last playthrough, I think I had a main roster of 8-12 soldiers (two or three of each class), a Spark, a Psi Trooper, two Reapers, one Skirmisher and one Templar. There are other game features which will require the use of a wider roster too, which I'm sure we'll see soon once the Resistance Ring completes.

And The Lost are something that you can remove from the game or cheese via the judicious application of mods if you play on PC. One mod removes them, another (Rend The Lost) lets melee attacks count as headshots, another makes The Lost as likely to target Advent as XCom. Rend The Lost trivialises the Lost, yet it is a mod I prefer to play with, because The Lost are awful.

War Of The Chosen makes a great deal of changes to the core gameplay of XCom 2, and I think it is definitely worth playing, for the challenge if nothing else.
