So glad you're back on the XCom train. How long is this going to be compared to the LW LP?

Selfish Request: Can you leave in more of the cut-scenes, for those of us who haven't played?

Oh hey just like the LW LP, first contract is overwatch taking out an enemy squad against all odds.

Is there something that needs tweaking in your capture/encoding setup, or are the textures on console really blocky and smoothed out compared to PC?

Well that's one way to make an indelible first impression on a commander. Blow up two cars on a sneaky mission and miss almost every shot.

Megane is such a ridiculous force to recon with, and having played vanilla XCom2 I feel like the game wasn't re-balanced around them. The way this game plays out long term, will you be able to field a faction unit on almost every mission?

Also, in a very early version of XCom2 a specialist's rover could reveal the squad if the enemies sighted it. Was that ever fixed?

This is correct and was my major criticism of Xcom 2, however War of the Chosen offers several attractive options for mitigating this problem that we can pursue later if we wish.

This is why I only did one play-through on XCom 2. It just wasn't fun for me to always fight the clock. I've heard though that the mod that starts the countdown from the time you're revealed instead of the time you land is a nice balance though, and I believe it's one of the most popular XCom2 mods.

XCom2 LW just looks unfun with the timer.

Slightly related question - XCom:Chimera Squad is half off until May 1st on Steam ($10 instead of $20). Is the gameplay traditional XCom, or is this some other genre in the XCom universe? Trying to avoid spoilers.

It's alright to be human sometimes. Mistakes happen. It'd be a boring LP if everything went swimmingly all the time anyways.

[edit]Wait, that's what the first number in the video titles is for? :gonk: I thought it was just a way of dividing the campaign up by major plot events or something

Something is completely going over my head if it was referenced in the video or a comment. I assumed it was because considering the high probability of failure in the early game there might be multiple runs?

FYI - XCOM Chimera Squad is out and is only $10 on Steam (and $9 on some of the other authorized resellers)

XCom2:War of the Chosen is also $15, which is the first time I've seen it on sale in 6+ months.

Are we behind on weapons research? It felt like everyone had a toy gun in that last mission.

So how does XP work in XCom2 compared to XCom? I noticed on this LP you're not taking care to get kills on soldiers that need it at all, compared to going out of your way to do it in the LW LP.

Well that was a mission. I've grown some numb to hearing 'this is going to be a wipe' that it was hard to believe how fast that went downhill expecting the usual miraculous save. Also another example of how terribly designed Specters are.

I guess we'll see how bad Deadford's survivor's guilt is going to be after that one.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what eventually kills this run of Xcom2.

I've never owned a PS4 but do things like this actually help? I'm surprised how popular they are in terms of Amazon sales.

I did not skip ahead to 28:30

I'm so proud of all my sniper kids! If only there weren't timers on pretty much every other mission.

Also did not skip ahead. When the pod revealed around 27:08 the sectapod was revealed. I was wondering why FairGame seemed so unconcerned by it when setting up the ambush

Can the Gatekeeper even show up before the story mission where it is supposed to? At all difficulties?

According to the clock we were scanning for resources two minutes away from the Black Market*. Wonder what they though of the ship just hanging around basically right over their heads.

(*Although there was some weird bug where the time advanced quite a bit, but as soon as we actually go to the Market it rolled back to T+00:02:00)

The elders' plan to deal with the pursuing evil from beyond the stars is to melt down most or all humans into green goo so that they can build new, vigorous bodies for themselves, and it's not even clear if this is a strategy to fight the big bad, or just a way of buying themselves more time at the expense of our entire species. So even if humanity was fully informed, you can see why we might want to take a chance on the evil we don't know.

I really dislike endings that are blatantly setting up a sequel like this. Any news on XCom 3, or where they were planning on going with this?

Welcome back! Hope this is a good sign that some level of normalcy has returned to your life.

Thought that VIP mission was going to be another one of . . . those missions for a bit. Have we just been getting a bit unlucky with your aggressive play-style, or are these maps really much more enemy dense than other types of missions?

Those last two missions really showcase how busted Tactical Analysis is. Are you guaranteed to get it at some point, or are there more random perks than ways to obtain them?

The mission is in the banner, but there's 15 minutes of "the PS4 was making scary noises so I stopped recording and restarted it" that's me scanning, getting the mission, gearing up, and starting the mission.

Like 99.9% of the mission action is in the banner, though.

If you want to be completionist, here's an uneventful Pt. 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jof0csLR1g

And then Pt. 2, per normal:

Well that was unexpectedly eventful given your description of the last two missions.

For all the disrespect you give Codices (or maybe because of it?) I still feel like they've been the most dangerous enemy. The forced lack of utility their AOE disarm causes has lead to incredible awkward situations and I believe multiple deaths in this playthrough.

Hope we get an explanation for the final team. I am really surprised Quinn made the cut, it feels like as insane as Templars were in the early game their power has just fallen off relative to everyone else in the late game.
