My flat-top is absolutely fabulous. I didn't anticipate that overall look for my soldier but I like it. :D Also glad I accredited myself pretty well.

Man, that mission was harsh. Are these out of season enemies showing simply due to legend? Any idea how they made it in to the mission? Stun lancers are one of the most hateful things for the game to throw at you all the way to the mid game. I developed a thorough dislike of them.

That was also some amazing performance by Megane. I see why so many people voted Templar. Only played base game not WotC so didn't have a good idea of how the faction soldiers play in the actual game.

Bloody hell, we shoot like people in a Zombie movie.

76% shot success rate is drat low given the number of gimmes we had in that mission. :( My lad didn't acquit himself as well this time.

Basically that, yes. I'd add Welsh to the mix, but I don't expect the average person on the internet to be acquainted with what a Welsh accent sounds like :v: .

That being said...

You make a good point, and I should've been more thoughtful. Those accents qualify just as much to be called "British" as Irish/Scottish/Welsh, yet I didn't think of them.
Most people I encounter who identify strongly with an Irish/Scottish/Welsh accent tend to be rather at odds with describing them as part of the UK identity. :D

But apologies, I should have left you to clarify.

Natch, one day away from being ready to be blown up again.

I have to admit I am curious to see how your strategic layer stuff pans out. Not played WotC so don't know what a good/optimal play is but curious to see what I can learn from this playthrough. Whether through your pain or success. :D

Did you get a free Reaper there or is that just for the first faction you encounter? Also, what happens if the Chosen bar maxes out?

That was nuts.

It really showed off how potent explosives are. Grenades and missile are as dangerous in your hands and in Advent's. Also, some pretty clutch long range overwatch shots all round.

That global timer is starting to look a bit more worrying now.

Huh. On PC, you can cancel and re-order proving grounds projects at will.

I never bother with experimental grenades because IIRC, they all give up exploding cover in favor of adding maluses. I mostly use my grenadiers to remove cover, shred armor, and proc holo-targeting, so I actually do Muton autopsy as soon as I can fit it in.

Grenades trigger holo targeting? Bloody hell, how did I not know that before. That's potentially a lot of +15 aim to spread around.

An enemy unit that can stealth, incapacitate a unit in a single turn AND create a hostile duplicate in its place? That's patently unfair.

It's not that different than a successful mind control which also takes a unit of yours out of action and "replaces" it with a hostile. A Sectoid can do that from cover the whatchamacallit has to go out of cover to create the duplicate and gets a move to get back into cover instead.

The main difference is the success rate and you can't nullify it with gear (other than murderization via bluescreen)

I tend to prefer AP rounds over bluescreen for general use, that does involve rolling on the ammo lottery though... The damage due to the armor bypass tends to come out roughly the same and the bonus damage on mechanicals. They tend to be my go to on my sniper or pistolier.

You see part of the forbidden technique in the Jade Star LP video. Key to the trick is that the Frozen status interacts weirdly with ruler reactions which can be abused in several ways to kill them.

He also goes into a bit more details about the mechanics of the fight and what exactly happened in the post below the video on LP Archive so don't look at that if you want to keep any potential future surprise unrevealed.

Donkringel posted:

2) Did they nerf that ruler? Because holy poo poo FairGame if you encounter that ruler I shudder to think what they would be in Legendary.

He did commit a pretty egregious mistake which caused the absolutely monster ruler turn where the ruler got 6 ruler reactions or so in a row. Even that ruler is manageable if you have the burst DPS on hand and don't hit end turn on on an unfrozen ruler with half your squad not having taken their actions. The ability Jade Star calls out as the most bullshit indeed is the worst and badly thought out but the rest are kinda manageable.
