I barely ever post in CSPAM, and only follow a few threads, so my opinion probably isn't particularly relevant, but for gently caress's sake, don't do poo poo like automating moderation with keyword searches, it's enough of a disaster elsewhere on the internet already.

im interested in whether or not moderation of slurs has improved over time & i doubt anyone could automate moderation on this mess of a website but the statistical analysis is interesting, or it would be if carried out over more than 1 month of 1 thread

the other day someone posted a picture of a unusual chair, and someone reported it with the comment "who the gently caress would sit in a chair like that??" I had to review this and examine the context and decide what to do about it. I chose to do nothing, but assessing this situation took up several minutes of my time. this, and a bunch of other similarly stupid poo poo takes up the time of the mods and prevents them from scanning through the forums for slurs themselves. We hope that if there is something really horrible happening that someone will bring it to our attention by reporting it. But if we don't get a report, then it's easy for us to miss it.

This I’m not in favor of at all. The community needs to be involved, good or bad. That’s why there are miscs. Most threads self police and that’s good. Snitches stitches is dumb. And I’d rather hear an explanation vs a robot troll blindly reporting. Reminder use the explanation field, otherwise you raise your likelihood of misc 90%.

This spreads out the information processing, as well as effort, since it is the community that draws the line (i.e. what they think when they see the post, severity of usage, etc. that contributes to report button being pushed). A lot of it is imo cspam is so quick, I've reread a page and wtf'd at seeing a post I was sure wasn't there. I'd be curious of users/reports compared to other forums. Definitely felt like there was an anti-report culture generally speaking last few years, but maybe that's just me.

yeah IKs can't see reports. IKs can only punish a post if they happen upon it or someone tells them about it. When that one guy spammed every thread a couple weeks ago with the hitler cumshot picture i 6ered him, asked for a ban, and tried to edit the picture out of every post of his i could find but i'm sure i missed some maybe letting iks see the report queue but still not letting them give out anything more than a 6er without mod approval would help mods handle it all Shear Modulus has issued a correction as of 05:27 on Apr 29, 2020 |
