hello byob, and welcome to my thread. i recently began learning how to make mini stuffed animals and i will be making one for byob as my entry! i am not a sewing person and usually find thread to be my nemesis, but this project is supposed to be for children so i thought surely i could do it here is the kit i got:  the table of contents:  and here is a bit of the felt selection i have:  the only color i seem to be missing is yellow - the ones that look yellow in this pic are really more of a tan here is the first mini stuffed animal i made, finished on sunday night. i call him Wonky the Peng  in my next post i'll be asking for audience participation to help design a mini stuffed animal |

first off, i need your help deciding what type of stuffed animal to make our choices are: penguin sloth bat pig whale seal hedgehog fox raccoon alpaca bunny panda octopus owl since i've already made a penguin, we should probably select something else. please post which stuffed animal you'd like me to make if you need to see one of the example images of an animal please let me know and i will post it the animal with the most votes in 24 hours will be the one i will make City of Glompton fucked around with this message at 02:55 on May 6, 2020

I vote sloth in honor of our IK, but also maybe you could combine it with an octopus? Like sloth toes on the end of octopus arms and a sloth face where it’s beak should be?!? Idk I’m just spitballin here Slothpaca has a nice ring to it Or octopenguin?

i cannot do a slothctopus bc the sweet lil sloth doesn't seem to have very defined footies and also i don't know i'm at the level of being able to make combo animals yet would those of you who said slothctopus like to clarify your preferred animal between the two? nut posted:add 2 votes for raccoon via my family tell them to please come post otherwise their votes are disqualified i'm sorry thems the rules

thank you all for voting here is where we landed (i threw PSP's vote in both sloth and octopus piles) sloth - 4 raccoon - 2 alpaca: 2 octopus: 3 pig: 1 owl: 2 goku: 2 sunglasses: 1 with that it looks like i'll be making a sloth wearing sunglasses next we need to decide on the sloth's colors

sloth will require 6 pieces - a body back, a body front, a face, eyes, and a nose  it seems like voting might be too complicated for this so let's simplify and vote for the body color or colors, and i'll select face, eyes and nose colors (although if you have input on them please feel free to chime in) what color or colors should be used for the body back and body front of the sloth? here are our choices:

i will be working on this over the weekend but my internet went out yesterday afternoon and they don't think it will be fixed until Monday so i probably will hold off on photo updates until then |

today we are making sloth i got started last night so let's catch up -  here are my supplies for making the body - trace the stencil then cut out. for anything black, it recommends holding the stencil against it and cutting around since tracing won't show  well those didn't come out as well as i wanted. the sharpie pen soaked in a little too much and i didn't want the leftover ink to ruin our little fellow:  it's also quite difficult to cut the felt against the tiny sunglasses stencil:  so i tried again with a regular ball point pen. also had the brilliant thought to use a white eyeliner pencil to trace on the black (although it didn't really work too well):  almost forgot face markings and nose:  success! ready to start stitching:

i started trying to stitch his little smile on last night and ran into some trouble. how did they do it for the picture? idk but i am not having a good time trying  going to do what he says and take it slow i guess

we left off here... there is a problem, i think they cheated when they made their examples:  well we wanted sunglasses anyway right?  i thought maybe they stitched the nose on to make it smaller but i really do not know, i don't see stitches on theirs. oh well  this is as far as i got, i have an island to build after all (say those Nooks look an awful lot like the raccoon in this project book don't they...)
