so im still sorta orbiting x4 and am seeking advice:

I have defeated the xenon, except for one area that i have walled off and am happy to let the paranid deal with. So there's no real wars but the Ministry of Finance is really pissing me off and I want to destroy them. Has anyone had any experience with going to war against these assholes? Their ships seem very missile based.

weirdly it can be beneficial, there are perks where you get resources whenever someone dies, also lower population means less hostility from the forest

i remember when the sims first came out my exposure to it was through the eyes of the quake community figuring out weird ways you could kill your sims like not letting them out of the hot tub for weeks

speaking of open worlds… Just played Diablo 4 because it was on Gamepass (and got me off my rear end to add some ram and a bigger SATA ssd to my gen4 i3 system)

What an aggressively mediocre game. Taken as a whole, the story is actually on par with D2, but the pacing of the game absolutely wrecks it by mixing in too many quests that feel generated and generic. The bosses are mostly forgettable, and by the end of my tier II campaign playthrough on sorcerer I didn’t even really have to engage with anything other than cooldowns. in D1 and D2 this isn’t a problem, those games made you feel like this was your reward. the enemy scaling just felt too obvious. The graphics, though gorgeous at times (as gorgeous as my GeForce 750ti could make them) are unreadable in motion, and all of the areas just come across as differently colored deserts.

The gameplay was fine, but I felt the skill system didn’t give me enough variety to really have fun, but too many options for me to really engage with it either. Perhaps this was because the gear I found was always a graduated progression of power with no real impact on gameplay other than making boss bars burn slightly faster. (though i do appreciate the attack power calculation that helped assure me I was calculating damage increases properly)

The season pass is obnoxious, but after interacting with the SNAP and Fortnight versions, it’s embarrassingly tame and almost forgivable.

So yeah, a solid C, C-.

What should I play next? I want to play more ARPG, but I also don’t want to play Path of Exile.
