The_Other posted:I've actually been going though Wikipedia looking at various flags lately and yeah, most US state and city flags are pretty bad. That said I think the flag of Phoenix, AZ is pretty neat (how many purple flags are there?) I was just thinking about purple flags today, despite it being the color of kings, there are only two countries with purple on their flags at all. I happen to like both even though I think the vexheads will probably disagree because of The Rules. Nicaragua: This one is a little SOB but I actually like the seal because it's unique. And Dominica: I think the parrot is cute a lot of the Caribbean flags are really good aesthetically in my opinion. I guess it's technically three if you count Qatar, which uses a similar color to that Phoenix flag

Coxswain Balls posted:Any Canadian flag that still uses the Red Ensign or the Union Jack sucks rear end, imo. You're not part of the empire any more, get over it. Goddamn, every last one of these hits so hard. Great flags all around, and proof that the Europeans' ideas of flag design are mostly dogshit. That said Macedonia and Belarus have the right idea. Here's one of my favorite indigenous flags: The wiphala has recently been the victim of some right wing coup bullshit in Bolivia and it sucks. I personally think the US flag is terrible. The Malaysian and Liberian flags are both simpler, more distinct, and better for it. QuickbreathFinisher fucked around with this message at 02:18 on Jun 22, 2020 |

Has anyone determined whether the guy with the Georgian flag (the nation, not the state) was just a moron who bought the first thing he found online for 'Georgia flag,' or if there is some weird Georgian iconography fetishism in the far right? Leaning heavily towards the former for what should be obvious reasons.

Count Roland posted:Do you guys play one of the "Flagle" games out there? I've always been into geography but never knew my flags. Now that I play the game every day my knowledge has improved dramatically. this is way better UI than "flaggle" which I was using, although I don't love seeing them on the scroll through. Thanks! my first guess is always South Africa because it usually gives a hit on at least one of the countries.

Rochallor posted:The Lincoln one appears to be invoking the state capitol, which is a really cool Art Deco-style tower. nice, that's definitely one of the more distinctive and cool looking ones in the kind of snooze top batch. Glad to see Pocatello finally changed their tragic Graphic Design Is My Passion flag to something a little more normal. Maybe Provo will catch on. My favorites are the ones that look like other types of signs/packaging. So many of the bad ones look like they're signs for hospice cares, funeral homes, or nonprofits. Odessa meanwhile looks like a sour cream label and Richfield looks like a hotdog brand. Really love the label across the river on the Springfield township flag, too.
