Wellp, picked up Library of Ruina thanks to TeeQue's excellent LPs, and now I've hit my 2nd (2.5th? Struggled with Spider Bud for a couple of tries before taking a...blunt approach to the fight) big roadblock in Urban Plague after Dawn Office, the Queen of Hatred. Unlike that first fight that I defeated thanks to discovering the power of Walter shenanigans, her ranged pages are messing me up something fierce, and I'm too used to playing with floors that have at least one abnormality suppressed, so Tiph & company's decks are probably too light-heavy. Honestly kind of feels like a fight that I should come back to later, but I'm curious if it is possible to suppress that one without taking on Wedge Office or Love Town.

The second fight on the far left is the Kurokumo Clan, who specialise in slash attacks and bleed effects. If you just stack as much bleed as you can, the Abno will basically kill itself.

Solitair posted:

You don't need to directly clash with Mass Attacks. Just put attacks that can outroll them in the dice they target, and have those dice target her other dice. Also, don't clash every attack. Just focus on the "In the Name of" attacks and let "With Love" pass by in favor of getting one-sided attacks on, especially if that means getting free bleed on her. Maybe redirect "Arcana Beats" if you have enough speed and a designated tank, but I doubt that can be reliably done and I didn't need it to take her down. Finally, offensive melee dice can keep being recycled as long as they deflect ranged dice, so melee cards with one big die work wonders against multiple small ranged dice.

Both of those tips helped, thanks! Also helped that I wound up dipping into the General Invitations for that level, since they're now actually useful compared with the first two story chapters. Even if I only won because Tiph and Queen scored a double KO with the rest of my librarians dead, but hey, a win is a win!

Of course, now I've got to figure out how to deal with Dawn Office - might just transfer a couple of those bleed key pages and decks over to Hod's floor, since my first attempt with Malkuth's floor on burn damage fizzled out with not even a single kill. And then after that, there's the rightmost Urban Plague invitation...

Didn't really have to adjust much when I transferred those builds over to Hod's floor - EGO Phillip went down on my first try, even if he took out a couple of my librarians in the process.

Same build worked great for Tomerry, but sweet lord I was not prepared for the visceral part of Love Town.
I'm hoping the pages I got from Tomerry's book aren't worth it so I don't have to look at that design again, eeeugh.

Oh man, I somehow managed to pull off Malkuth's Floor Realization on my first try after only having faced the Index Proselytes as a 2nd tier fight in Urban Nightmare. And despite accidentally skipping a turn in the final section that left me with just Malkuth to handle the fight, she was able to graze the grass and beat up Snow White's Apple!Angela thanks to the Oscar keypage I gave her, some Sweeper cards for light and health refills, and plenty of survival key pages attributed.

Whew, managed to beat The Crying Children on my first go with Yesod's floor and all its wacky pages, even if I kinda sorta might've accidentally left one librarian with the default kit. thankfully der shooty is wonderful for putting a stop to the cherubs shenanigans, getting me into Star of the City!

And the first fight I tried, The Thumb, saw a full floor wiped out without even managing to get a book for my troubles. Guess it's back to the drawing board for me.

Oof, Hod's Realization was rough until I wound up using some of those passives for health gain on anything dying - though it only really mattered for Black Swan and Laetitia, a good girl who has done nothing wrong in her life whereas I just wound up blowing through the other fights with the power of friendship and violence. MVPs were definitely Bamboo Hat Kim, Emma's Block shenanigans, and Cane Office's ridiculous charge antics.

and then I went after my 2nd Star of the City invitation, Liu Section 2, with a vengeance - I was down to two librarians, including Hod, for the 2nd round, but by that point I was just unloading EGO pages on them and handling cleanup.

Phew, Netzach's Realization really crams the difficulty into the last fight, doesn't it? I watched my librarians beat the stuffing out of each other in a panic, thinking I'd have to reset...and then Angela used Curtain Call, Netzach and the surviving librarian who had Nemo's key page on (thank goodness for that revive) staggered her, and the two managed to whittle down the remainder of her HP while the musicians kept pelting them. If I had made one more mistake in that fight, boom, an hour gone.

On a related note, the Night Awl pages go really, really well with Netzach's floor, huh?

The Udjat are also incredibly valuable as red coin generators since they're so incredibly durable - give them cards like Opportunity Spotted and you can get powerful Abnormality pages like Gebura's Mountain of Corpses pretty easily.

So that's the trick to it! I still haven't gotten that page, ||even during the Realization which made the last phase a slog||, in part due to the floor having my heavy-hitters who tend to win more clashes than lose.

Did at least get the achievement for Hokma's floor in an attempt, though.

Cripes, finally managed to beat Xiao - went Gebura to burn down Miris before he did too much damage, then Binah for most of Xiao's fight - remembering to finally change Binah's librarians into something other than a Thumb firing squad helped. Xiao still kicked that floor's rear end, but by that point she was weak enough that Gebura's floor was able to come in for the finisher.

Which just leaves Distorted Yan and Chesed, Binah, and pretty much the majority of Hokma's abnormalities as my next fights, yaaaay...!

Woo, that's my last Star of the City realization down! Giving the Cowardly Lion role to my Xiao librarian pretty much let me delete that phase entirely, AND get the achievement for having 15 strength on a single librarian to boot.

Now I just have to deal with Religion's 3rd abnormality - probably not reading its passive right, since it seems like the Blue Star Worshippers don't get deleted by the star when they're staggered? Or do they only die if they're staggered when the Mass Attack fires off?

Speaking of, Philosophy's realized! It wasn't as bad as I worried after I brought in a Block-heavy deck to speed up phase 2, phase 3 was pure unga-bunga, and the final fight I just abused Binah's ability to seal off dice to cut down on the sheer amount of mass attacks I had to deal with - I don't think I even had a single librarian go down at all.

Based on that upcoming mission that Vergilius is leading his office on, I'm starting to wonder if Garnet might be the person with the weird arm tentacle[?] at the end of the Limbus Company trailer as a result of Distorting...or maybe it'll be an alternate him that gets pulled into this timeline from the singularity the Middle is working on.

Also still curious about what Iori's plans are, but I imagine that's going to wind up as an overarching story for the franchise or something that gets explored more in a later game.

So, The Reverb Ensemble fight. Do I have to do it all in one go without quitting out of the game, or can I take breaks after getting through the Lower and Middle floors?

Edit: That's Eileen and Greta down. Former kinda folded to the Yesod Mist strategy, even if I had to whip out Der Shooty to burn through her last wave. Greta wasn't as bad as people said - but I also went into her sticking to a guide, MVP was definitely a turbocharged Bamboo Hat. Still struggling with burning down Philip fast enough, though - probably need to add in Lowell for an extra bit of burning mass attack in phase 2.

In terms of nuts level, R-Corp 2's way behind the other two. You're really only there for Clone and the super attacks for each of the keypages, and while they're all good (especially the Yujin and Happy Memories shenanigans that Clone enables) you can't really put any of that on the same level as the other three. Iori's a very strong contender for best keypage in the game, Yan is an amazing support and we just talked about the burn shenanigans Xiao can do.

Whew, finished the game! Heck of a ride, especially with the fights at the end. Binah crashed and burned in the first round of the rematch, but her floor managed to finish off the quartet and moved onto the second round, which is where Chesed using smoky Red Mist Prowess Iori and the superpower of teamwork demolished Oswald, Tanya, and Jae-hoon before just going to town on Pluto and Elena. Everyone got wiped out to Argalia's incessant mass attack spam at the end, but I brought in Netzach using Yujin and whatever leftover decent keypages to whittle down that last 65 hp.

I was so close to keeping Roland alive, just one more turn and he would've made it through - but Baral and Zena decided to double-team him with heavy-hitting cards on one speed dice, and I was only able to redirect one. All in all, fantastic game, and I'm really glad I gave it a chance after the end of TeeQue's Lobotomy Corporation LP!

Now all that's left for me is wrapping up those last few achievements, checking out some of these mods, and eagerly waiting for the LP to get into the crazy stuff.
