after learning english, japanese is omega easymode, grammar wise. there's only two tenses, only 2 irregular verbs, and sentence structure is very simple and straightforward. it more than makes up for it with kanji though. unlike with other foreign languages, where i learned to read well before i learned to understand spoken language well, seriously gently caress kanji lmao. i've learned enough to be able to get through simple dialogue and/or rpg game mechanics or similar, but fluently reading an actual book will probably elude me for many years still because i'm too lazy to practice that enough

nah, hell girl season 4 was just more of the same episodic stuff as other seasons started with, but it was 6 new episodes followed by 6 from the previous 3 seasons and then it ended

i have no idea how much into specifics drama cd gets, but my opinion on just "dog god spirit rescues girl, when she grows up they do the happily ever after" is "it's dumb mythology bullshit" it's crap you could probably lift from a thousand different fairy tale/mythology collections around the world

IMO: the best miyazaki is nausicaa manga, and it's not even a competition, this despite me greatly prefering anime over manga in general the best ghibli is definitely porco rosso, with whisper of the heart and mononoke being pretty drat good too. whisper of the heart was my favourite in high school, but as i get older porco rosso just keeps getting better somehow???? nausicaa anime gets a mention because while it's too short to do much with the setting, it's a really well made introduction to the insanely good manga oscar ultimately going to spirited away out of all the stuff is, however, predictable. it was the mainstream worldwide hit after all

there's a miyazaki inverview where, IIRC (it's been a while), he starts rambling about how if you plant a tree, it might bring good, but it might also fall on your house and destroy it because nature is unpredictable and that's why nausicaa ends the way it does lmfao
