That is the oldest surviving image from my mechs and robots image folder, the file data says it is from 2004, possibly earlier since I think it was copied over from an older hard drive.

Unfortunately, no idea where it's originally from.

This is why I don't ever really want a komi-san anime, where them nailing the humor and timing of jokes and character gags and everything that works well in the 4koma version would be incredibly easy to gently caress up.

Plus if they adapted the manga faithfully we'd have the considerably uncomfortable first stretch before it became a bit more family-friendly, with Actual Kidnapper Yamai. or that one girl who wanted to be komi's dog(?) and was quickly shuffled to the background, reappeared with a food-based gimmick, then was quietly written out of the series entirely

And another series that the anime adaptation completely botched it was My Monster Secret

I like that in the omake chapters certain characters are her friend no matter what alternate universe it's in

people posting about their first experiences with anime reminded me of this chestnut from back in the day

Back in I wanna say 1999 or 2000, on a very basic craigslist-esque site called Bartertown where people traded MTG cards and warhammer figures, I traded a bunch of shittily-painted warhammer fantasy figures for a bunch of "random" anime VHS tapes and playstation 1 games. I got Alundra, Thousand Arms, Legend of Legaia, and a couple other games in the trade, as well as VHS tapes of Tenchi Muyo, Ranma 1/2, an anime with busty cop ladies with a very 80s or 90s aesthetic that iirc started with a bunch of people storming the precinct and brutally mercing a bunch of people? I think that was the one, I may be conflating that with a different series though. And a tape of some old mech anime with women pilots and the biggest drat thighs on a mech suits I've ever seen. and lastly a bootleg VHS tape of some sailor moon hentai that just had "SAILOR MOON" scrawled on it that I gave to my sister because she was super into sailor moon and I thought she might want it. Mom was not happy with the guy sending porn to children, and also wasn't too thrilled by the lady cop one that had people getting brutally murdered on screen, so I had to go through her whenever I wanted to trade with people on Bartertown after that.

Oh and he also included the entirety of the Gargoyles cartoon in gloriously lovely 144p on over four dozen CDRs, which, like, okay sure why not

I hope you have enjoyed my story

don't actually read the text I guess if you don't want to "spoil" things but there's quite a lot more characters than anime-era watamote, and almost all of the main ones are great.

Theres a scene where two characters are having an argument on a dock and one of them is losing so he just steps to the side onto a raft thats randomly there and just floats off and the camera watches him float off silently for like 2 minutes

Theres a scene where a guy loses a fight, bows, and then just walks out of the room and into the ocean and silently floats to the bottom

And the show has like five things like this every episode. Theres no such thing as a boring episode of gundam wing

Yeah according to the site owners copyright holders went after the servers themselves, the site owners said it's gone and not coming back. km had become obsolete imo and super sketch anyways, so it's not a super big loss, though not letting people get their bookmarks sucks.

Polsy posted:

The RSS won't do too much for you unfortunately since it only includes the ones on the page you're looking at. This userscript seems fine, though - the output is formatted like a MAL export though I haven't tried actually using it as one.
Thanks! Anything that lets me just have a list of series saved to a text file even is fine, without having to manually copy it all down since I've got like a thousand series in my bookmarks.

Man, I remember pokemon special, I read a bunch of it as a kid and found out it was this massive sprawling series like 5 years ago, it's a surprisingly great series. Would love it if they adapted that into an anime instead of Ash the Ageless Wonder.

BearDrivingTruck posted:

I really liked the pokemon manga that came out alongside adventures way back in the 90s (?), while it turned out to be way skeevier than I realized at the time, I thought the idea of a world largely controlled by nature, with pockets of humanity that occasionally go out and interact with it, was far more fascinating than what we got. Like the mountain-sized tree that was born from a venusaur, or how professor oak was a wandering explorer instead of just a dude in a lab.
