Sir Lemming posted:Royal Blood - Boilermaker really has its hooks in me right now. I'm actually finding myself clicking my teeth to the rhythm of it and having to stop myself. I think there's just something about all of the main parts of the song that makes it easy to just kind of endlessly brain loop. Typhoons is a great album. And lol....they've released SIX singles out of the eleven tracks. And I still think they missed the best two tracks on the album: Million and One & Mad Visions. Still Typhoons is not quite as good as their debut, self-titled album. Got to see these guys open for the Foo Fighters back in 2014. Incredible what they do as a two man band.

'Hey Old Man' by Superbloom. 90s grungy alt-rock goodness from a new Brooklyn based band. This song is like crack to my ears. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BejalisxuRI

Popular Creeps by Chris Mars. He was the drummer for The Replacements before a solo career in which he mostly played all the instruments on his albums. Had some backing from guys in Soul Asylum. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlBaprUbgtU

Been on a CD buying binge these past couple of months. Not really diving into new bands necessarily....but definitely doing a deeper dive on bands that I already knew. These two songs have definitely been stuck in my head. Metric - The Twist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-fTlr9y2kQ Fair to Midland - Amarillo Sleeps On My Pillow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bob92ztl3fo

Was looking for some Marcy Playground albums.....as I was interested in seeing what they did after their self-titled album. Found a lot of them....but they were packaged with a couple of Pavement albums that I already had....and almost every Nada Surf album as well. I only knew the song 'Popular'. But I've been finding a lot of stuff in their catalogue that I've liked a lot. The song 'See These Bones' is incredible....and I'm well on my way to burning it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdyYBdGsmzk

Silversun Pickups third album (Neck of the Woods - 2012) was a giant step backwards from their first two (Carnavas & Swoon). Disappointing to listen through it after expectations were heightened. But the album was saved somewhat by the second to last song....Gun-Shy Sunshine....which has been stuck in my head for a couple weeks now. How was this not one of the singles? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIPA_486DjE

Doctor Zero posted:Wow, really? That’s got some great ones IMO … Bloody Mary, Dots n Dashes, The Pit… More because of how good the first two albums were. Never said that 'Neck of the Woods' was a bad album....just not on the same level. Guess saying that it was a "giant" step backwards was too harsh. But 'Gun-Shy Sunshine' is a great song. Quite possibly my favorite SSP song.

Lampsacus posted:The best silversuns album is The Singles Collection album 🏂👍 I'm not sure that a greatest hits album really qualifies for "best album". Also....it is missing some really key songs....including the one I posted in this thread.

Got around to listening to the only SSP album that I hadn't heard yet, Widow's Weeds. I'd say this one is right up with Swoon. Liked it a lot. And the song 'Don't Know Yet' has gotten stuck in my head. The chord progression starting at 3:03 is very reminiscent of the bridge of 'Jumper (Third Eye Blind). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ewcrh2kTuLY

Listening to discover mode on YouTube Music introduced me to Nilufer Yanya...and I like just about everything I've heard. Super chill, alternative synthpoprock with some shoegaze aspects.
