Got myself a Nording bent dublin from smokingpipes.com. I'm digging it, it looks great and is not too heavy...the bowl is pretty big so you can fill 'er up for long walks and such.

That rules! I was thinking about picking up another pipe I can actually put down.

E: I'm actually pretty interested in some pipe tobacco that has some good spice to it like allspice and cardamom if anyone knows any.

Three Nuns is pretty spicy. As an added bonus, it's one of the tobaccos CS Lewis used to smoke.

Nightcap is great - probably the strongest pipe tobacco in terms of nicotine content, though. Eagerly awaiting your thoughts on Three Nuns though!

If y'all are interested in pipes, I highly recommend finding an estate pipe to start with. The difference between my well seasoned Pipa Croci and brand new Ropp is pretty astounding. Looking forward to getting some good cake in there!

Getting the tobacco in jars for a few days is also really helpful. Previously, I had been popping a small Boveda pack in the tin, but this is the way to go. Loving the way these two activities complement each other :kimchi:

Yeah I think this is the way to go. If I order tobacco online, it'll come in sealed plastic bags and it's way too moist at first - the stuff requires constant relights. But putting them in jars lets it dry out without getting too dry.

I don't know how folks smoke for decades with all this.

Most of us don't actually clean our pipes usually, unless they're gurgling. And if they're gurgling that much you're doing something wrong.

One thing I like about smokingpipes.com is that you can filter for what kind of components you want/don't want in your bulk tobacco:

I went to one of those local hipster barbershops where they have pipe and cigar stuff and they had a tin of Mac Baren Plumcake Navy Blend and it is exquisite. They also had a brand called "Mr. B" which I see is made by Sutliff. Anyway I got a pouch of their BC Cavendish and that is also nice. I think Latakia and Cavendish are two of my fave tobacco aromas. Also I don't know what's going on but here in Canada all the pictures on tins and pouches of tobacco have been replaced with a flat grey background with boring text. It's really insane, the bureaucrats obviously don't have anything productive to do.

Swag day! My order from smokingpipes.com finally arrived:

I got Grand Croupier Boneyard pipe tobacco - I've always wanted to try Grand Croupier because I'd never heard of it before but it's highly rated. There's also Lane HGL pipe tobacco; and finally a 4-pack of Camacho cigars - oh and a cutter because I'm not usually much of a cigar guy.

I've picked pipe smoking back up after a few years and I found an old baggie of one of my favorite blends that's in surprisingly good shape. Used to be the only place you could get pipe tobacco around here was a porn/cigar/sports merch store and nothing they had was really well labeled.

They had a lot of stokkebye stuff but I think this one might be sutliff, it's only ever just been labeled "Balkan no. 2." It's real heavy on Latakia compared to everything else I've smoked. The good news is that I'm in the 21st century and can buy tins of actual pipe tobacco online, what's a good blend that's heavy on Latakia?

Also do you guys have any recos on pipes? I've got a couple of mid range estates, but I finally make enough that I can entertain the thought of treating myself to something nice that wasn't smoked by a dead guy

The Semois is really up my alley - maybe my favorite ever - and I've got a good feeling about Sutliff 79, but I'm not super sure where else to go.

Maybe try some Grand Croupier, it's pretty good despite the fact that I had never heard of it before.

When I visited Orlando, there was a fantastic cigar + pipe place called "The Ol' Times." I don't know if they ship but it was a great place to visit. Maybe I was impressed because, being from Canada, we can't even smoke in our tobacco shops. Anyways, it was a small place but had plenty of charm and friendly staff too.
