I read Asia's Unknown Uprisings Volume 1: South Korean Social Movements in the 20th Century by George Katsiaficas a few years back and while it's not much of a general history, it goes into a lot about the various uprisings throughout Korea's history. You'll learn about the labor movement, as well as a whole host of massacres carried out by the various governments!
