Yeah the translator thing is a bug, and one I've never heard of before. Normally, the translator tool always works, and can't be broken by impacts or anything.

Anyway, the weird thing with the signals was that your signalscope has multiple channels. When you open it up, it defaults to the Outer Wilds channel (the other astronauts and their music). If you open it while close to an unidentified signal, it'll default to the channel of whatever that signal is.

The Vessel can be tricky to find. You should check your computer, see if there's any leads to how you might find it. Remember that the computer (and the map) are not the only ways to mark things.

It's actually possible to catch up to the probe-- it's fast as hell, and you can't lock on, but it's doable. Unfortunately there's no reason to do so; it's just an object, there's nothing to interact with. It looks cool, but that's it.

I saw a video a few months back where the probe was fired directly at Timber Hearth. It just clipped right through and kept on going.
