Tigers will do anything for a tuna sandwich.

It also depends a bit on what you like in particular and what direction you'd like to go when it comes to your normal tastes:

Something heavier? Murder of the Universe is a pretty good pick.
Full blown 80s thrash? Infest the Rats Nest
Proggier? Polygondwanaland
Mellow? Paper Mache Dream Balloon or Fishing for Fishies
Weirder? Any of the microtonal records might just be your thing (KG/LW/Microtonal Banana)
Jazzier? Sketches of Brunswick East
Little bit of everything? Gumboot or Omnium Gatherum

What would the weirdest genre Gizz could make an album in the style of?

My vote goes to... 60s crooner ballads

just keep going in sequential order imo. flying microtonal banana is next and my favorite album of theirs, and the the first half retains that dense jammy style of NI, and after that is murder of the universe, which is said by the band to be a spirtual successor to NI (except it's an audiobook.) and then... yeah, keep going. they like to mix things up and there's no "lull period" except for maybe KG & LW.

I think Static Electricity is my favorite off LW. All the instrumentation in that track is so weird in the best possible way.

Now you've got me thinking about a single favorite track all-time and man is that a tough one.

Yea I guess I meant my favorite not best before anyone thinks I don't realize a band with eighty billion songs will generate a lot of subjective opinions :) probably some recency bias for me too

Seeing them live this weekend and my company randomly has an account at the venue and gifted me four free box seats so I can resell the ones we bought. I feel like a kid waiting for christmas

Seeing King Gizzard live was a loving experience, holy poo poo. The energy in the crowd was nuts, and they just tore the loving roof off this place. Metaphorically anyways since it was outdoors. Just incredible, what a loving band

Funny story, I used to own that Flying V. I bought it as a senior in high school and, while it was cool, it mostly gathered dust because it was a pain in the rear end to play (the form factor is surprisingly annoying if you're sitting down). I eventually sold it on commission through Main Drag Music in Brooklyn, and when I visited the store later they told me that King Gizzard was the band who picked it up! Sad to see it busted, but happy that it actually got played by a real band rather than just sitting in my apartment lol

edit: was able to dig up an old pic (from 2008!). Please don't mock my Peavey amp

That’s awesome!

My first guitar was a Gibson V2, and I liked playing it sitting down because the v fit around my leg well, classical style I guess

Holy Explorer/Flying V got caught in a freight lift. Stu says neither are reparable. Stu is now rocking a Dimebag Darrell model with the price tag still on it:

I caught the Millvale (Philly) & two Burlington shows last month, truly incredible experiences. I caught them twice in 2019 but have only fallen further down the Gizz rabbit hole since then, and these were really small venues comparatively (both venues in 2019 were 5,000 capacity, these ones were around 750). Such an incredible band live, gotta see 'em if you have the chance. The October shows are generally larger but I'm still planning to hit up a number of them.

so i saw these fuckers live and now i haven't listened to anything but the gizz for like three months. i also bought three shirts off their merch store (i listen to colorful records, the one with the lizard wizard looking like a koopa troopa, and the sketches of brunswick shirt with red rings on the arms/neck). it was like a religious experience. i've run through their entire catalog multiple times and eyes like the sky is being blasted constantly. is something wrong with me?

This is just the natural post-gig experience for Gizz, to be honest.
