I’m sorry that this is the gamer-est thing to say but I wish Stardew Valley had more content. Like many simulators it just gets dead boring after like, two in game years.

I've never tried it either, but I'm about to. I'm trying to surprise my partner with a ring in game, but I need to get a prismatic shard to do it.

Somehow I had an easier time getting multiple prismatic shards from the shadow brutes on floors 90+ than the ancient seed from the grubs despite killing less

I bought this for my wife because all she plays is shooters and survival games, and she always ends her gaming sessions in a ragequit.

She got sucked in to Stardew, and having a chill game to play is definitely helping her stress levels.

I’d like some descriptions of the wrong ways that this game can be played. Thank you and god bless.

There's a mod that lets you control the passage of time, allowing you to play the game leisurely without stress or concern for time, just as the developer intended. This is most certainly a wrong way to play.

Get the slingshot, hit everyone with slingshots so they hate you, then just go to sleep and do nothing else as your "farm" is slowly overtaken by trees, rocks, branches, and grass.

Depending on whether or not your care, you may want to look up the requirements in the community center and the requirements for the “best” ending. Community center is easy enough to complete but you can delay stuff that is nice to have (like the greenhouse) by about a year if you’re not planning a bit ahead.

The best review by your grandpa doesn’t really change anything, but there are a couple of moderately obtuse things to get.

Nothing else is really time sensitive and even these things aren’t really, the community center is just a barrier for progress and the review thing is just something that stresses some people out.

If you get a JojaMart membership so the mayor sadly sells the town's most tresured building thats fallen into disrepair to the enormous multinational corporation that's probably playing it wrong.

Cool, I've just been planting things, building things, trying to gather the stuff the community center wants, and killing things in the mine. I don't really spend time interacting with the townspeople or giving gifts but I have done a couple of the events. Glad to hear the game won't get mad at me for just doing what I want most of the time.

I bought this for the girlfriend thinking it would be like Farmville or Animal Crossing, and it was like neither. We were too dumb to figure out the basic controls on the switch, so we stopped playing it.

Animal Crossing is prtty good tho.

Look right now at the wiki to see what you need to get the Greenhouse and start preparing before it's too late. The sooner you get it, the sooner you'll be free to do what you want. I just barely inched past the finish line to get the best ending with like half of Winter to spare.

Also, save one of everything you get for the first time and just put it in a box. You'll probably need it later at some point and it's so nice to just have something from 3 seasons ago ready to take out when you have to finish a quest or a community center bundle for something important.

Another wrong way to play: get the community center roughly three-quarters finished and then "accidentally buy a Joja membership" as my friend did, lol.

He also spent the majority of the time he was playing trying to romance Robin, completely oblivious to her husband and two children somehow, before I pointed it out to him she's, indeed, not single.

The quests on the bulletin board are ridiculous. They always only give you a day or two to finish them. I feel like it's very much the antithesis of what the game claims to be aiming for.

Note: The ore quests by Clint do not ask you to bring him ore! He will get mad if you give him ore. You need to go find 25 new ore and then talk to him.

You can redo the grandpa evaluation at any time by using a diamond, so don't worry too much. As far as the game is concerned Year 2 is the same as Year 50. Nothing changes after Year 1. Also earning money will only get you up to 7/12 points in the evaluation. You'll need some points from other things like friendship and skills to get all 4 candles.

Yes. There are huge differences in the actual size of the farm itself. The standard farm which is biggest has 3427 tiles to use with 235 non-farmable tiles that you can still put buildings on.

The smallest is the forest farm which has less than half that with only around 1500 tiles to use.

There's also big differences in the layout your farm will eventually take. With standard you can just do a boring grid and it will work fine. For everywhere else the terrain will force you to have strange crop layouts and think about where to put your buildings very hard. The strange crop layouts is significant just because you'll end up converting to a sprinkler system from your watering can if you want to expand beyond a tiny corner of the farm.

Despite being smallest the Forest Farm has a consensus towards being the best for beginners on account of the fact that you

A. Really won't use all the space with the bigger farms anyway until you're experienced at least.

B. Foraging to help get your farm started

C. A constant supply of hardwood which is a huge loving pain to get a hold of even when you unlock the ability to get it regularly. This is the reason that this map is smallest because its such a huge benefit that it would imbalance it without reducing size drastically.

I'm using the Forest Farm on this playthrough and while I'm feeling the beginning pangs of the small size its nice to be able to build towards a "complete" farm rather than just having one corner that has crops, a path to the greenhouse, and then an untamed mangle of weeds, trees, and rocks

I stopped even trying the bulletin board ones after like two of them, they're a huge time sink and don't pay anything.

I luckily got 4 candles on my evaluation on the first go today. Extreme Pale Ale powerfarming eventually did the trick but holy poo poo it would have been so much easier had I planned from the beginning and understood how the Community Center bundles worked and why it was so important to do things in-season. Same thing with the fishing for the Fish Tank bundle.

In my latest run I used the multiplayer farm, while playing solo, and I am really enjoying it! It has a hardwood stump, a patch of rocks for mining and a pond. So you get resources but not too fast .

I have a farming quadrant, an animal quadrant, a forest quad for saps/wood I also keep my slimes there for danger forest, and an industry quadrant where I make everything. The little patch of land in the middle with the greenhouse is where I keep fruit trees.

The organization is really good for my brain and I ended up playing for a lot longer than I usually do. It's my favorite map by far.
