fuckign safari is the only software that is somehow able to make my macbook hang and force me to restart it by holding the power button. how does it do it? i just play some video on safari it the whole machine crash. meanwhile firefox can play videos for days with no issues. does safari have elevated privilege or special gpu access that fucks it up or something???

Apple has been getting better and better at making appliances, but it is difficult at best to reconcile that skill set and worldview with making general purpose computers to be on topic I think this is the same attitude that has led Microsoft engineers to conclude they must assert control over your computer and tell you when to restart for updates rather than inform you and then empower you to make good decisions about your computer. whether or not that’s wrong I don’t know but it is in line with an understanding of the personal computer as an appliance managed remotely by people that are better than you
